Quoting previous Messages
A collegue of mine discovered this in markdown formatting (if you include a ">" before a paragraph it formats it as a quote, then 2xShift+Return to exit quote). This is a useful feature when trying to give context to a response that occurs later in a conversation thread.
Quoting should be a more integrated feature. I'm picturing a "quote" button below the message window that when you select it, it opens another window where you can select a message you want to quote. The tool should automatically date/time stamp the quote, format it the same as the markdown method, and perhaps make it so that clicking the quote would bring you to that part in the conversation.
Not being able to "reply" in the desktop app is a major oversight! Come on Microsoft - keep your apps compatible with each other!

This feature could be rolled out as part of the pop-over that we get for each line of msg in the Microsoft Teams chat window. Refer to the attached image

Please can you reenable the reply option in the desktop app
It's so weird that this feature is present on the android app of MS teams, but not availabe on the desktop app.
Need that feature too. Why does it take so long? It can't be so complicated. For many other apps for smartphone it is already state of the art.

we need this feature ASAP
crazy that this isn't a standard feature like it is for every other chat app on the planet.
and sitting on it for this long?!!!!?!?!!?!?1?!

This would also be very useful for the meeting chat when you have larger meetings - it can be quite difficult to understand who you write to when you answer a specific person when there are three replies below their questions etc.
This is because of this:
Microsoft has an app called Quote that you have to purchase to be able to quote or reply to a specific message in Teams.
i found an alternative for this issue in the link as below:
It took me a long while to find the quote button in Microsoft Team on the desktop and compared to others like Slack so user-unfriendly.
I found out I need workaround shortcut key like shift + > key to do that
And on iOS the quote is built-in
I can't believe in a modern chat app this feature is missing
and this why companies like Zoom are growing at >100% per month...
Incredible this doesn't exist. Classic Microsoft not having a feature on desktop PC which is bread and butter for any chat application but they do have it on IOS app... inconsistent and incomprehensible...
Please let's create this option to desktop version... make it easier to use... copy and paste full messages would be much simpler if we have an option via right click button.

This is already implemented in the Mobile version (according to a colleague), but not in the Desktop versions.
keep it up! we all want this feature please!
Still working on it?
Can we we have a Reply option?
Instead of Copy & ">" & Paste & Shift Enter twice & type my reply message.

It works on the phone app, and not the desktop app??? And this was a feature request 2 YEARS AGO?!
PLEASE fix this!!!
@microsoft - this functionality is vital and a glaring omission. Please sort this. It's causing me a massive headache with Teams adoption.
