Can incoming emails sent into a channel generate notifications the same way conversations do?
If I'm following a channel I'd like to be able to receive notifications on ALL activity in that channel. The biggest thing that's missing is the ability to get banner notifications and a number in the Teams icon (like when someone posts a new conversation) for incoming emails to the channel.
We want to have a group of people monitor automated alerts coming into a channel and respond to them but without notifications we have to keep bringing the Teams window up and manually checking it.

This feature request is still being reviewed by the feature team. No ETA for a decision yet.

if the goal of Teams is to replace a large proportion of emails within groups, how is this functionality not a priority? We are trying to reduce intra-team emails by forwarding emails of broad importance / interest to the relevant Team or Channel. But people need to get some kind of notification that a message has arrived!

Hi. This has been under review for years. We, too, want to use emails in to channels as part of a key process, however, the lack of channel notifications for emails makes the process impossible to manage with any real service levels. Please add this feature.

Hello --- has this issue ever been rectified? That is, can Teams send a notification when an email is sent to a channel from Outlook... w/o using another application to generate a notice? Apologies if this has been fixed and I missed the solution.

What can I do to escalate this? This is a critical part to the entire idea behind Teams. How can people collaborate together in one place without notifications of communication? An email distribution list is still a better choice at this moment. I can’t imagine what the intended design purpose of withholding this feature could be. And from what I read, I am not alone in these thoughts.
I would like to mention a few things I tried to “trick” Teams into an alert. Unfortunately they failed, but maybe this will give someone an idea.
First test: I sent an email with @someone in the subject.
Second test: I sent an email with @someone in the body of the email. But I think what would need to happen is for the @someone to somehow get into the conversation part.
This is not a solution as it is not reasonable to ask people to include this in an email. But I was hoping to maybe prepend the email with @groupname if my test worked.
Thank you for your time

Yes. I very much agree. This would be a great feature. I have read some best practices documentation by Microsoft when deploying Teams that recommends, "fewer teams and more channels" over "more teams and fewer channels". In order for this to realistically be possible according to the 80/20 rule, channel specific notifications as well as private channels will need to be developed.

It would be interesting to get also notification/activity in MS Teams by email communications , if not the message will be lost in the conversation history.

At this stage we use Flows to send email reminders to Channels as there is no way to have teams do it itself like Slack Bot can, but the emails dont even generate a notification so its kind of useless...

This Feature is really needed! We want that our infrastructure systems are able to send notifications to a TEAMS channel and we thought that we will get a notification through this action, but nothing... :( Please activate the notification for incoming emails in channels! ;)

Pretty amazing that the company the size of MS doesn't provide this. It's a no brainer. We will have to continue to Slack until it's fixed.

Agreed. We have a number of key players outside of our team who email directly to a channel for specific requests, and unless they also email one or more of the team-members, we never see a notification of it unless we're staring at Teams at the time. Even with two monitors, I can't have the Teams window open at all hours, so the notifications are essential for us - even if it's a notification that only goes out to someone following said channel.

I agree. My problem is with integrations. E-mail and all integrations don't generate notifications. For instance, I use services to monitor my website and the service sends a message to Microsoft Teams (Office 365 connector) when something happens. Without notifications, this is a problem.

This is needed. Without the ability to call out mentions from an email, the email to channel piece is an "also ran".
Perhaps it could parse subject lines for things like "@team" or "@person" and then tag it accordingly.

Agreed - we're trying to leverage Teams as a basic helpdesk platform for a small team, with email being the task trigger, but with no notifications for emails sent to Channels, it's not working too well.
