Metadata / Customized Views in Files Tab
Show Metadata in the Files Tab to easily see, add and change metadata. (It seems that now you have do all that in Sharepoint)
Customizing the files view has been announced and is coming soon! This will include viewing metadata from document libraries and lists.

In addition to some of the comments regarding each channel is using the same set of columns in SharePoint, I would like to see that each channel gets it's own document library.

And I agree that metadata/columns should be visible in Teams directly so you don't have to switch between Teams and SharePoint all the time. This works confusing and not consistant if you want all uploaded documents to have metadata.
Views/filters should be added as well to quickly find the document you're looking for in case you are uploading lots and lots of documents. A search field would help too.

We are a consulting company with several Communities of Practices set up as Teams, each with communications channels and supporting artifacts. We've found early on that the lack of Metadata on the file view and tagging of conversations is greatly hampering our goal of community collaboration.

This is potentially more complicated than stated in this uservoice. Within each channel there may be a need for different columns. Currently all documents within a team are stored in a single Document Library therefore columns created within one channel will also appear in all other channels.
Should therefore the idea of views be introduced to Files as well? In such a way that for each Files for each channel has a different view?

I want to be able to create a customized site template so I can add metadata that I need in all my company's sites for retention.
this is essential. making workflows without being able to interact with file metadata is limiting
everything about modern computing pushes people to not worry about where things are stored as much as adding metadata to them so they can be searched
Teams loses appeal rapidly when one has to go into SharePoint to find the file(s) to discuss.
Providing the option of using a SharePoint view in Teams or (better yet) allowing metadata filters in the Team channel allows us to remain in Teams using the features it provides whilst still obtaining the underlying value of SharePoint as a EDRMS.
There should also be a way for a team leader/administrator to create a strutured taxonomy for users to follow. This could be done either by creating a term store for teams, or allowing for a SharePoint Term Store to be used with Teams.

We use metadata and custom columns for our documents. At the moment in Teams, I do not see the extra column nor can I add the metadata tags to files. I have to Open In SharePoint if I want to do this, which makes it annoying to use. As an MSP, we implement metadata tagging for most of our customers and if we successfully want to implement Teams, we will need this functionality
