Have the download function of files allow you to select the destination
Currently files are downloaded only to the DOWNLOAD folder. Allow a save as function / select download location.

Unfortunately because of changing priorities, this feature was moved to the backlog. The team hopes to pick it up again in the near future.

I simply can't understand how this wasn't intrinsically part of the design, like every other app since 1992. This obsession with "everything has to stay in Teams" needs to stop. That was the excuse I was given by our Teams advocate, that MS doesn't want to encourage removing content from Teams, thus no "Save as". That's not how people work. Yes, we can access it from downloads but rather than being a fluid tool to use, it irritates me a dozen times a day.

Welcome to teams a commonsense easily implemented feature takes 4 years.

Info from @Warren since 2018: "Please keep the votes and feedback coming in. Your feedback is shared with the feature team every month."
It looks like there is a spam filter for this topic :D

1+ year later (https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/users/673546846-alex)
How does it looks like with this feature? There is literally no one who would like saving files directly to downloads (really annoying).
It looks like a feature where the implementation takes "several years" + 30 minutes to make it work.

Haiyaaa, Microsoft Team not very optimised. Backlog important features like this since 2017.
Lots of people use this software for school, uni and business in times of Covid 19.
At least try to improve the software to make our lives easier.
Otherwise, say bye-bye to your customers mah !

I am downloading files from teams nearly everyday. Due to the teachers using teams to provide us with the PowerPoints as PDFs, etc and i want to save them in a specific folder structure i created. It is annoying always open the explorer and move the file to the desired location and takes a lot of time. With this feature i would save so much time...

It is not that we can't understand how this is not priority feature. It's Microsoft that can't undrestand why people prefere e.g. desktop way more than Downloads folder. LOL

The lack of this feature has ground away at a good number of us for a really long time and this is not counting those that haven't even said anything here.
How can this NOT be a priority.
Is it so hard to add this?! I don't even code and given an hour of access to the Teams coding, I could probably get this feature added, tested and deployed.
Your lack of concern for a very small thing that could make a huge, positive impact on your UX is deplorable.
Can someone explain WHY it has been backlogged?
Right. Didn't think so.

one and a half years of "now actively being worked upon" without any results and then "moved to backlog". Who was actively working on it for that long without any results? This normally is a very basic but important function every programmer could implement with a few clicks.

Integrating some new schlock gadget gee-whiz feature.: PRIORITY
Product BUGS and the complete loss of core/historic MS platform functionality: backlog.
MS has lost so much touch with their user base that it's amazing their HQ is still on planet Earth.

How can this issue not be a top priority?! It is basic functionality and a major inconvenience when working in Teams

I can't understand such a basic feature is not accessible....
Always painful to find your downloaded files. -

Come on, I can't believe this isn't an option yet. I have to download 2-hour-long lectures from Teams (a lot of them), and I don't want to write my SSD with all that data. And unfortunately I don't have any other choice, because my university uses Teams.

Definitely need this enhancement - it would save so much time each day, and is basic functionality. Please also add a function to easily view the downloaded file list e.g. CTRL+J

I can't understand this feature not being available. Are we year 2021 or back to the 90's?
