Have the download function of files allow you to select the destination
Currently files are downloaded only to the DOWNLOAD folder. Allow a save as function / select download location.
Unfortunately because of changing priorities, this feature was moved to the backlog. The team hopes to pick it up again in the near future.

Insanity that an app with such market prominence can be so functionally wonky. How has this not been fixed?
Our Company literally only started using teams so that it would be easier than using email to share photos to the administration, to be properly downloaded into customer folders... but teams sends everything to a single folder without allowing me to choose download path, erases the original file name, doesn't even allow me to choose a file name, names everything the same file name, and furthermore, it appears to condense the photos! If I had known it had this problem, I would *never* have pushed for us to switch to teams. Instead of being easier than email, it's 3x more difficult. I cannot express in clean , professional language how infuriating this is. Please fix this. Pretty please. It shouldn't be this hard.
Select "open in browser" then file | save as | download a copy | download -> and the folder browser dialog will open
How does every other Microsoft program have the ability to change your default download location
in Settings but Teams doesn't? Also pretty curious why this has been in a backlog for 18m.
Please add this feature. It's very basic and saves time on my end when I need to download files to the right location.

@Marilee Trottier, it is better than Skype for Business at least. My company used to use that thing until 2019. My team was using Slack extra-officially, but then SARS-Cov2 strikes and from 2020 now we have to use Teams. It is good enough for our team to stick with it and now with home office we end up having to talk to way more people in the company through chat and meetings are through Teams as well, so we end up having to use it anyways. One big problem though is that Teams uses about the same amount of memory an IDE uses (sometimes even more) and our company's laptops arent too good with memory so sometimes I just have to keep it closed or else I just can't work...
Near future being....????
It's like MS has completely started from scratch with their new platforms, with their uber-push to online only platforms.
Save to location... a feature for the past 20 years in just about every MS platform... lost with MS Teams.
Seriously, how is this not done yet? It was just about the first thing I needed to do when I started using Teams.

I can't believe this issue has been reported in 2017 and officially on the backlog for more than a year... It's such a basic feature.
I usually love microsoft products and how they grow, but Teams has been a disappointment since day one of using it. It's even worse now that we all work from home. There have been a lot of updates since the beginning of the pandemic (some of which included big changes that were very welcome and I thank you for those), but not taking the time to fix this extremely basic issue that's available in every program is unacceptable especially considering the amount of time it's been up on here and how many people vote and comment on it to this day.
Reading through the comments as I write this, there are at least 10 people a month complaining about this issue and that doesn't include all the other people who would never think of coming on here (which is probably 1000 times more). All this for a simple quality of life feature that's existed for decades in most software.
Edit: Just to mention the fact that the latest update added a whole refresh of the emojis and you thought this was more important than adding this feature. Really? I'm happy about the new emojis but it would've been much better for my productivity to be able to chose my download folder instead of going through 3 or 4 steps just to get my file where I want it to be. Teams is first and foremost a business productivity app, so I think you should really take a long look at your ''changing priorities'' and focus on how this program can help companies save time and be more productive. And that is not by spending a lot of time on an emoji overhaul.
I'm done now, thank you for reading and I hope you will listen to your community
It's ridiculous that this functionnality doesn't exist. It should have existed from the very beginning. Even in the 90s, everything already had that functionnality. And here we are, in 2021, wondering why a big corporation like Microsoft can't even add such a simple feature to a program used by corporations all aound the world...

Not exactly what some people need but if you can at least change the default one.
Changing download location in Microsoft Edge did the trick for me.
(Teams is a web app after all.)
You might also consider using Teams in a browser ( https://teams.microsoft.com ).
For me personally, the difference was unnoticeable. Didn't miss any features.

As sophisticated as Teams tries to be, I can't believe this simple feature is unavailable

How can this still be on the backlog? It is fundamental functionality that should have been implemented when the system was launched. I cannot understand how this issue can be that difficult to fix.
fix it please! Make it like chrome downloads where it opens up file explorer and lets you pick download location
This is the weirdest thing not fixed.

Hahaha. Welcome to 2021!
I had to stop few extra downloads could not find options. Ended up stopping all downloads and redoing it.
Hello. Please, make this happens !
Nearing ten thousand requests for a simple feature that was introduced in other Microsoft products....twenty five years ago?
This is the kind of thing that makes me remind my boss three times a week, "you know, Google does that."
