Joining a Team
Change "Add team" to "Add or join a team": I avoided this button because I thought it would always create a new team. It wasn’t evident to me that I could browse for existing teams there too.
PREVIEW A TEAM:
Provide the ability to preview a Team without immediately joining, to see what the reason for the Team is and what Channels exist. It’s a little cumbersome to have to join, realize the Team isn’t what you thought it was, and leave.
Presently you have to know the name of a team to be able to search for it, if I am new to the company and I want to have a look to see what teams there are within my organisation I can’t currently, as I don’t know the names of them in the first place, it would be better if all public teams were visible.
I’m switching the status to Partially Done.
The request for a Preview Team is still in the works. No new information is available at this time.
Team Discoverability is still being worked upon, no details are available at this time. If you support this idea please navigate over to the main topic and vote for it! https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103/
Change Prompt: this has been completed
This is great, thanks for this
Would it be possible to add this in the general search, add a new result tab (Messages, People, Files.... TEAMS) ?
I noticed if the TEAMS name is "My Space" and you look for a TEAMS named "Space", then you'll not find it. If you look for "My" then you'll find it. Can you implement a search that recognize the word in any position of the TEAMS name and also search in the abstract/description of the TEAMS ?

I want to be able to see a list of all public teams and browse the files/notes without joining. We sometimes need files of other teams without joining or participating in a team

Well, I created a new public group few hours ago and nobody can still see it: http://zupimages.net/up/17/10/by0w.png

The search should allow us to search for anything (teams, channels, private groups, users)
In Yammer you can select for a private group if you want to have it listed in the list of groups. Why not building that feature

Yes, definitely need the concept of an "Open Team", where I can search for the team, find it, and join it all on my own.

I think you need to have secret - you can imagine senior execs and HR running projects they don't want the underlings to be able to search for !! Especially as the data will be stored in lots of composite sites

Please see my elaboration on this... https://teamsfeedback.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public-preview/suggestions/16986694-multiple-team-support-in-one-client
I would be happy with just being able to set my teams as not private
1) Private like we have
2) Open like this request wants
3) Request to join
SunKee Hong commented
Yes! And not just search, because I don't you can even request to join, but allow a team to be OPEN for everyone in the company.
The only alternatives right now is to either:
A: Create a company wide team and have hundreds of channels under it
B: Add the entire company when you want to create an open team.

This would be super useful!

It would be great to be able to access other teams on Microsoft Teams to be able to collaborate easier.
