Have you heard of matterbridge? https://github.com/42wim/matterbridge
It is a gateway to multiple chats, including IRC. -

And one more vote for XMPP / IRC Gateway. Think of us poor ultrabook users.
My laptop tries to take off whenever teams decides to do something in the background. Its a no-brainer from business perspective and hopefully not that expensive to implement.

Just fired up teams client; discovered it's half-broken on high contrast black and not very usable. IRC gateway for the win.

I've been trying to get around this the past few months, there are a couple possibilities but I would much prefer to remove 1k lines of pointless logic :(

Please add IRC + XMPP gateway support and improve over Slack's offering since they shuttered the feature

Build a real native app or give us connections to other protocols so we can choose the client we like.

This will enable better accessibility for everyone from blind users whose clients depend on XMPP to users who just want to customize their microsoft teams experience.

This would greatly improve my use of teams. Please provide an IRC gateway - or at least a way to extend teams to do so.

Yes please! This would be amazing.

I want IRC Gateway! commented
Please make this! If y'all won't bother to develop a non-garbage-electron desktop client, let us use something better.

This is absolutely necessary. Organizations make the decisions that fit the bulk of users. Those of us that do not fit in the "bulk bin" need an avenue to stay connected and this is it.

Kind of tired of needing a myriad different chat clients to support various platforms and then having to find workarounds for mac and linux desktops. IRC support would be a big plus

hahahaha cool idea, I would honestly love to use it, but let's be real, it will absolutely never happen.

Plus that, you know what's great about IRC? It's *keyboard accessible*. Sick of being forced to use apps that are terrible for keyboard-only users.

Even a barebones implementation would really help out those of us who are already running way too many separate communication platforms.

Upvote this please. I don't want to have a half dozen different client software running. Adopting standard protocols such as IRC and XMPP makes everything easier to consolidate.
