don't switch to "away", just because I'm using a different application (i'm still at work!)
The availability status should indicate whether or not someone is available, which means they are available to chat.
So it does not make sense to switch my status to away, just because I'm answering email or do something else on my computer.

The fix for this is officially completed! For the specific issue of status changing to away in Teams when you are still active on the device, there was still a small % of users who saw the broken behavior, but as of today, all should be working correctly. Please note this was a backend fix, so no client update is needed.
If you believe you are still having an issue, please feel free to capture logs by typing Ctrl + Shift + Alt + 1, and send the file from your downloads folder along with detailed repro steps to teamsml@microsoft.com.
Thanks everyone – and enjoy!

Whats the status? it was said that it would be resolved before end of August.

There are other discussions where this fix is called out as "Need more information".
The very viability of this product relies on users trusting that it will help them collaborate, not hinder them. As I said elsewhere: Suphatra, we have got to get this fixed. We use Teams but now rely on Jabber (of all things) to know the presence of our... Teammates. Every patch release I check to see if it's working and it's never resolved. Please move this up in priority before my team loses faith in the product. Critical and simple behavior that Microsoft (and every competitor) already has in other products - it should be a no-brainer in Teams. -

We just started piloting Teams, this is a must-have feature to see who is logged into Teams - without it this software is unusable. When will this bug fix be released?

Status doesn't update automatically like Skype did, constantly says I'm inactive, even when I'm using the program, whats up with that?

Hi Suphatra,
Regarding Skype for Business, 'time' shown with the status as 'Away' is not showing correct. for one day away its showing 119 days or 137 days away. Please have a look.
thanks -

It's not the delay that bugs me; it's the lack of communication. Saying that it'll be done by the end of August, and then just refusing to comment for a month. I've had to stop recommending people switch to Teams, instead recommending stay away for now. Which sucks because for the most part it's great.

Can we expect it this year? Seems like 99.9% of ETAs given for Teams are completely missed, and not by a few days, but by months.

Working on it.....aka blowing smoke

I've noticed that Teams will often set me as Away while I'm still working at the PC; its not until I actively use the Teams app that I'm changed back to Available. This behaviour should be changed such that if I'm working on the PC I should remain Available until I change it myself (or leave the PC).

When will this be rolled out to the "outer rings" ? We really need the status to be working correctly!

hello... not sure what's going on, but my status seems to keep changing and/or not synced up. I want to remain in "Do not disturb" status but notice:
My status changes on it's own (don't know when it happens) back to "Available"
My status icon on the bottom left (either Available or Do not disturb, for example) is not always the same/synced up with my post's status. For example, my status shows Do not disturb, but my post shows Available or vice versa.

Seriously, any update on the timeframe of this fix? We are a couple days away from dropping Teams because I can't tell management when this is going to be fixed.

Automatically away status waste of us going every five mins after login and running in background. It should go to our status from Available to AWAY. please when login in TEAMS always online. If we force to select AWAY about status only should say AWAY.
Until log-off always AVAILABLE should show to all till logoff especially in other process and task running also AVAILABLE need to show to all. -

Any updates on this? Without an accurate presence indicator Teams is useless.
