Mass add users to a channel or team
Please add mass add users to a channel or team.
Like we use on other Office 365 services. email@domain;email@domain and (if possible) @everyone something like that.
I'm using and loving Microsoft Teams :-)
Thanks a lot.
Thank you for your feedback and comments! The team is looking into how best to do this. We will post an update here as we have more to share.
Manage members should offer to sort members alphabetically.
1) When a team is clicked in the left pane the right pane does not change. It changes only when the General channel is clicked. The right pane should change as soon as the team is selected.
2) There should be an option to copy-paste selected or all ([Ctrl]+A) the members from one team to another.
3) While adding members to a channel a list with check-boxes should pop so that members can be ticked and selected. There should also be a provision to select or de-select all.
In outlook, you can paste in a series of names or emails, press alt+k and vupti you have all the contacts added to the meeting. How can it be you have to manually copy every single name, one at a time, into teams?? This is a big lack of functionality
Its a joke that you cant add AD groups to private channels...We are halfway through 2020 and still no solution. We are seriously considering going away from Teams because of the added administrative efforts needed when trying to maintain user groups across dozens of channels
We really need to be able to mass add members in Teams, We have a project with 450 schools. Over 2000 participants. There has to be a easier way to add participants to teams!
We would like to be able to start meeting (in outlook and it going in Teams ) and then create a team based on the meeting invitee in order to record and share contents.

Without a list upload we won't be able to use teams with larger groups and creating breakout groups will be very difficult, surely the simple list approach must be easy to implement as the code exists in many other MS apps
how can you import student list from one group to another ? Adding again the same list of students to another team is ridiculous !! there must be a easy way

Yes, yes. In fact we need more M365 tools to create & manage departmental groupings in general, not just in Teams but across all the M365 tools.
We need a nice control panel for our office management staff to create and manage security groups so that adding new staff member to a massive pile of teams, other SharePoint libraries, etc., is as easy as adding them to a security group. Also a pain is if a staff member moves department. We then have to manually go through all the teams to make sure they're in the right ones. It's a total pain and something that should not really be left to doing it manually.

Once our internal Exchange is migrated to Outlook online, then will we be able to add Distribution Lists already defined in the Global Address Book (or our personal Contacts) to a Teams team, or a contact group in Teams?
pls give access to groups - security groups or O365 goups
I have to now add 220 learners to Teams separately, seems ridiculous considering there could be an easy fix. Considering this thread starting in 2017...there has been more than enough time.

While working a project - since it is a temporary team it would make sense to have this option rather than create a DL just for a one-time activity which then causes a delay.
When taking a conversation from email to Teams, there's no way to start a new chat. I tried copying the list of addressees from Outlook and pasting in with no success. I tried copying a list of names and pasting that in with likewise no success. Surprising that this wasn't available!
I got a list of 23 users to add to a Teams today. This is a one off need.
I was surprised to learn that I had to do this one by one.
There is no point creating a distribution group for this as it is one time need.
Please make it that it is possible to add in this format email; email; emal ...
This is a gap within the TEAMS architecture, and will limit the amount that I use TEAMS until WEBEX is removed from my company's communication platforms.
I have multiple CG's (Contact Groups) in my Outlook address list, many in excess of 60-75 people, and when I try and "transfer" these CG's to TEAMS, I end up having to manually add each email individually.
Please create a patch/worklet so that I can have TEAMS haul in my working groups from Outlook.

I use Teams for internal training. We have a Team for "classes" and each channel is a different class. I need a way to take a list of usernames/emails and add them to the channel / team without entering them one at a time.

@Jay Singh - that is a joke, right?! :D :D :D
Of course, it can be done that way, but only nerds and geeks will continue to read your instructions past your word "powershell"! :D
Clearly, what is needed is a field in Teams, similar to the "add users field" in the SharePoint "share" menu, into which you can paste a long list of identities at once. This field should be "tolerant" in the way that it should help users to look for valid IDs in case they misspelled.
Can we give access to groups - security groups or O365 goups or Everyone in the organization. Save time to add them.
Thank you for listening :)

Jay Singh's suggestion is not practical for many users.
An example of usage would be;
To create channels / teams for virtual classroom trainings. In case of numerous trainings, it would be annoying to manually add users to teams. A practical mass user addition feature would be nice.
