Tracking hours spent on tasks in planner
I am not able to capture the amount of time I spend everyday on a particular task. We usually break down the task to as small a possible and work on more than one task on any given day. It will help if we can capture the amount of time we spend on a given task on a daily basis.
It will also help if we can plot the effort spent (individually and cumulatively). My intention is to have a scrum board for my team.

Must needed feature
time tracking (together with time estimations) for each task in MS Planner
and report capability, to have a clear view of planned vs actual time spend on tasks -

It will be great to have a timer on a task or subtask (even a pomodoro timer).
When we are working on a task, we can begin the timer and it will end with the 'complete' status or with the change of a task -

Where is the official reply from Microsoft? I am disappointed to scan through these comments all asking and pointing out the same thing of how important time tracking is for planning and the other half of the job which seems to be neglected by Microsoft, the reporting part. Until this is rectify you have only half a product.

Adding time tracking feature to MS Planner will be a gerat improvement for the lightweight project or task tracking, making the tool a lot more usefull. My clients are looking for other sollutions as Planner looks incomplete because of this, and Project is too oversized for this scope of SMB needs.

Hi,
I came across this topic after looking for exact this solution for my company.
After having realized it does not exist (and most probably will never be delivered by Microsoft) I started to create an MS Teams app for this.

Please add registration of time spent on a task in Planner. That would make planner a whole lot better for our team.

I would love to see it two fields added to the planner task, one for time estimates for the task and one for the actual time for the task. Additionally, allow selection options for those that want to track it by hour/minute or as a percentage. For example there are some things I just need to know what percentage of my staffs time is consumed with a task - 25%, 50%, 75% etc. It's helpful for resource planning and forecasting.

Most required. Microsoft is creating tools without integration. Each tool is a standalone tool and instead of easing our work, it is making our work more complicated

In addition to tracking HH:MM spent on specific Tasks in Planner, a simple Report feature (please include export in both PDF and Excel) showing the calculation of total hours spent. Include flexible time spans Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly.

Definitely need a way to track time spent on each task, and preferably, even steps within a task.

How this is not a native function blows my mind. When you 'plan' one of thee most important variables is time tracking. MS = Epic fail on this...
Add time tracking!!

Time tracking for tasks and ability to generate report for that particular task or whole project with hours spent column next to it. Also if Microsoft could include unit price/hour. Thats it Planner is good to go for 2020. Please Microsoft we are already working on your tools, just do it man. I am sure you have best developers.

This is a simple addition that could move us from Jira to Planner.

Agreed! Absolute must-have. It seems strange to have to rely on 3rd party integrations for this.
We must continue to use Asana until we get time tracking for MS planner. I was looking at alternatives and this website offers integration to MS Planner.

We are looking at switching to MS project just to get everything in one place but seems a bit overkill.

I agree wholeheartedly with these comments. Was searching online to see if effort hours and actual hours were possible to be tracked in MS Planner and found this thread. Please add this functionality for this, or at the very least, some spaces for custom fields would be awesome!
