Shared channels within an organization
Shared channels within an organization will allow people in different teams to collaborate on a shared project or v-team in the context of their own teams. A channel can be shared across teams in the same organization.

This would be a game changer feature that would allow us to move towards a full org deploy. There is no other way to address certain organizational needs we have.

This feature is desperately needed and has been on backlog for two years. What's up? Slack can do this!

We really need this - Pls make it a priority
We are in desperate need of this feature. Please make this a priority!

Would be a great help to structure the team setup in an organization and work commonly on projects while being in different teams of the same organization.

I'm surprised at the lack of votes for this one, as I have worked for a few organizations where this sort of collaboration tool would be very useful.
In education, where for example we have 8 math teams, it would be nice to share a blanket message with all of our grade levels... instead, we need to share a post to 8 different Teams every time that we want to contact all of our students with the same message. Just seems more logical to have a channel that can be seen by multiple teams.

We have several channels that touch multiple teams. This feature would be perfect for us, as our only recourse today is to create new teams. This causes a lot of extra maintenance, ensuring that new people get added to the full complement of Teams, as opposed to the 1 or 2 they actually belong to.
we will also use this

+1 This will be an excellent feature
Please bump this up in your priority guys!
I am so surprised that this capability didn't come shipped with v1.

This type of channel could be a good way to share information across a matrixed organization or collaboration. Within a project, where some work product has contributions from multiple teams this shared channel could be specific to a particular work product (work package). On short term projects this could even be usefully linked to Planner. Just a potential use case that comes to mind. Thanks . . Erik
I beg for this. Or at least another way of achieving something similar. Being a bit new to Teams, I thought that this feature would have existed already!
Please add this!! It would be a wonderful addition to our communication chain in our production facility.
This is would a tremendous addition. Perfect example for property management; a Leasing Team with a channel for each property but those property channels also need to be in the individual building teams.
this and three other items on the Backlog should all be fat Tracked as they would make Teams the ultimate collaboration space with excessive proliferation.
- Channel only members:
- Shared channels across organizations:
- Shared channels within an organization
- Public channels:

I realized about this need just few days ago.
Reading about this, first ideas come from 2017...
A great feature to simplify collaborations between teams.
Now we have to put everyone in every team or create special teams for collaborations (a mess)...
This excellent idea would stop us from having to create so many teams! While it would still be appropriate for certain projects to get their own team, some projects need the communications department and IT involved, or Payroll and Marketing, etc. Shared channels would absolutely nail that use case and would save us some of the overhead of making a million new teams.
