Editable Teams and Channels header
Proposed solution:
I have experience of using MatterMost (an on-premises Slack clone) and one of the features I really like is that each channel has an editable header. That header can contain markdown.
My team is a dev team and we use the channel header to display badges for our Continuous Integration (CI) builds. I'd really like to be able to do the same in Teams.
Problem right now, as described by one user:
I need the team description more easily visible. Right now I have to click on Edit to be able to see the description of the Team. It would be great to have it written at the top so that it’s evident to all. Another way to see the team name is to “View Team”. However, if the description is beyond the character count, you can’t read the full team description.

This feature request is still be reviewed by the feature team. No additional details are available at this time.

This is a feature that we are also interested in.

I don't really care how it is done, but team and channel descriptions need to be visible.
Team and channel descriptions are of little use if they aren't seen. Channel descriptions allow us to guide members on the purpose and expected use of a channel, but nobody thinks to go to "Manage" channel to find this.

We are also working with application development, and we would need a channel header or title, where we could set the link to the latest working version for in-house use.
Other channels also need somekind of a title, a notification that is related to that particular channel, so that every user will know what is the "latest topic" or notification.

Not only description but what about pinned messages? I think you can save messages, but I'm not sure it's the same as for instance slack or discord...
If this should be it's own request I can do that, but it might be a more universal solution to have some FAQ/FYI posts regarding the channel...

How about make the channel description visible in a mouse-over tooltip as a first step? This should be a one-day job (well, this should be a ten minute job but I assume there is a lot of bureaucracy an testing involved), scratch our immediate itch, and then you can take another year to roll out the Ultimate Channel Description Display Feature? :)

Also make the channel and team descriptions visible in mouse-over text, and make those and any header searchable across Teams.

Absolutely needed! We use this feature a lot in Slack for some of our channels where the topic is fluid, but a new channel is unwarranted.

Description should just be visible in the top under the name of the channel in italic maybe. Then everyone will know what should be posted in the different channels

Hover over the channel should show description. Description should also be visible at top of Channel window, but make it collapsible so you can hide it.

indeed - allowing markdown in Team and Channel descriptions would allow including linkout to other related resources, such as, erhm, the associated Confluence & JIRA landing pages for the project.

I would like to have the channel description visible as a tooltip. That would really help users to find the correct channel.

This would be really useful to on-board new team members, and get users using the right channels from the start. No user is willing to sit and read through a document which explains what every channel is for.

I would like the channel description visible somewhere on the screen when you select that channel similar to how Slack does this.

Please make the channel description more accessible to users. Currently, if a user wants to see the channel description and has permission to update channels, they have to click "Edit channel" from the "..." ellipsis menu. But, there are many times when they simply want to view and not edit the channel description and therefore, this menu option doesn't make sense. And if they don't have the correct permissions, I'm not sure they even have the option to view the description from the channel page itself.
If I'm wrong and there is another way to

I want to help people, especially on-boarding new ones, understand what each team and channel are used for. The display of descriptions should be configurable, and for new teams/channels, by default display. We should also have this on the file/folder structure both in Teams and Sharepoint.

Channel Description is not searchable. Any information placed in the Description does not help anyone doing a search find the channel. the Description is also not visible unless you edit the channel.

Channel topics/descriptions are something I use frequently on other message clients to display a message that will always be visible, such as information on what a channel is for, where to check for information before asking a question, etc. However, in Teams, this information isn't visible while using the channel, instead it is only available in the team channel list, where most people wouldn't think to look for it.
Also, please consider making permissions more configurable, so people don't necessarily need to be admin to change the channel description.

I shouldn't have to click on the ellipsis, then edit channel to see the description/purpose of the channel.
