Editable Teams and Channels header
Proposed solution:
I have experience of using MatterMost (an on-premises Slack clone) and one of the features I really like is that each channel has an editable header. That header can contain markdown.
My team is a dev team and we use the channel header to display badges for our Continuous Integration (CI) builds. I'd really like to be able to do the same in Teams.
Problem right now, as described by one user:
I need the team description more easily visible. Right now I have to click on Edit to be able to see the description of the Team. It would be great to have it written at the top so that it’s evident to all. Another way to see the team name is to “View Team”. However, if the description is beyond the character count, you can’t read the full team description.

This feature request is still be reviewed by the feature team. No additional details are available at this time.

Or something that all new users need to know or be reminded of. If it's a support channel this maybe something like "Read the FAQs Tab before you post a new question"

+1 for this. It's basically the /topic command for IRC users and is incredibly useful.

The function was available in early Teams versions and is taken away for no reason, PLEASE ADD IT BACK!

We really need this, seems like it would be a simple fix

YES!!! Why can't we leave an editable header on the channel. I know we can place an announcement, but this scrolls away as people post new stuff. I need to be able to tell people stuff when they land on the channel. For example: working hours 9-6 EST.
Thanks!!! -

I need this too, as well as the opportunity to hide the default headers in channels. I see this as one feature, customizable team/channel headers.
"welcome to the team" and "Let's start a conversation" <- translated from dutch so might be slightly off.

"Right now I have to click on Edit to be able to see the description of the Team" <--- This! I'm designing Teams and channels for clients, and their users are certainly not going to click "Edit Channel" to see the full description! Just getting them to click the (i) info icon to see the description at all will be challenging enough. Why truncate the description at all? -- or if truncate it, why not make an easy and obvious way to click to see the full description?

Definitely never seen an application that is this poorly created - every single request even the most basic things such as changing the picture of a chat consistent of several members is marked as a request and usually takes 3 years + to not do anything -_-
The day Microsoft develops something that doesn't suck... is gonna be the day you guys make a vacuum cleaner -_-

This is kind of done, no? Now there is an info button in the upper-right corner, under which you can also finally see the channel's description (or the team's if it's the General channel).

This is a very very basic-seeming need...for user-friendliness and collaboration.
Slack excels at this concept, having both Topics and Descriptions for each channel. V helpful...borderline essential... -

I would consider it extremly helpful if it would be possible to display the channel description somewhere where it actually can be seen by the users, otherwise you can remove it completely. First time I created a channel I took the time to write something that really helps to understand what the channel is about, but found that I seem to have done that for nothing!

one more thing, it is not very friendly as I try to copy a list of email from excel into add members, these are people who are within the organisation and TEAM cannot auto pick up. I have to add one name at a time which is annoying as the list is super long. please fix it..
