How can we make Microsoft Teams better?

More than 20 participants in a chat

We would like to use group chats for conversations that are not team/work related. However, the 20 participant limit keeps us from using the feature to it's full extent. Please increase the participant limit for group chats from 20 to 100.

This is done rolling out and you should all be able to use this function in your Teams now. Ping me at sparavi (at) Microsoft (dot) com if you have any questions!

We are using group chats a workaround for not having private channels, but this limitation is impeding us. @Warren, how are the things going with the private channels feature?

Can't create a private channel within a team and can't create a chat group of more than 20 people... I could make things work with one or the other, but having both unavailable makes things very difficult!

This feature could be the make or break for using teams. I have a team of 25 we all need to be able to chat. 20 is such a low number. Is there an ETA for this.

I would like to invite you to take part in a free research study that will enable us to help people in difficult situations. the study is on the power of addiction and state of mind. This is free research test in aid of two reasons.

    1) - In aid to help those that are in need via a new study.
    2) - For the embodiment of research for future studies in aid to help us understand more.

We are in need as many participants as possible our goal is 10,000 to get a successful reading, we are currently on 7,000 which is still very good but we want more and better to gain more info into the minds of general people. So if you can to help and share 5 minutes out your day to do this free study that will benefit a load of people that would be a massive help for us all at the social research group and one step closer to our goal.

All we ask is that you answer the questions truthfully and honestly thats it.

    The link is: [SurveyLink]

All information is kept completely confidential and anonymous, all information is also only use in context of the research purposes and only that. Mandatory question will have a star at the end of the question. These are questions that must be answered in order to complete the research test. You do not have to answer all questions but if you choose to that is completely fine.

Once again thank you for your time and effort.

    Kind regards,

Artificial limits on any feature will always run into a situation where someone has a legitimate use case for breaking the limit. All limits should be removed.

Currently we use MS Teams as a form of communication between team members at where I work. We have noticed that the chat feature will only allow up to 19 people in the chat; when our teams are well over that amount. We then have to create new chats for those who cannot be added into the first one. I believe that it would be more beneficial if there were an unlimited number of people allowed to be added to a chat.

There are sufficient users of Teams that any limit to number of people, favorites, tabs, channels is going to be exceeded by some users, for good reasons.

Do not impose arbitrary limits on anything.

Increase limit for private chat to more than 20 - once more than 20 users are added to a private chat - disable access to video/voice.

Hi MS Teams, any latest update on this improvement request? We currently having challenge of creating new group chat having more than 20 members/[participants.

  • Derek Gabriel commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

This is insane, we can have 2500 users in a team, but only 20 in a group chat? And because we can't admin remove users from the chat, and they stick around even when their account is deleted, it's a mess!

This feature to add more than 20 participants will be great and please also allow to add the Email Distribution groups to the chat.

  • demetrisp commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

If unlimited is not an option, then what will be the limit?
100 participants should be the minimum by default.
It's like kicking out colleagues just because i don't have the option to add them to the group.

Agreed need to be able to add more than 20 members to a Group Chat...
Should be able to add and remove users from the chat group created...
would be good if the sound alert on any messages submitted was a little louder...

ALSO is it possible to change the colour of the text on the chat and for it to be set permanently? and not change it manually each time we write something?
