How can we make Microsoft Teams better?

More than 20 participants in a chat

We would like to use group chats for conversations that are not team/work related. However, the 20 participant limit keeps us from using the feature to it's full extent. Please increase the participant limit for group chats from 20 to 100.

Yes, this 20 person limit on MS Teams chat function is really bad. We definitely need a larger limit - 100 persons would be okay for me.

We need this feature to share information and collaborate with large group.
Please let me know when can you remove this limitation.
Currently, this 20 users limitation is holding us back to adopt Teams.

Do you have an anticipated delivery date and an indication of what the change will be (e.g. remove limits or just increase the limit). We cannot adopt Teams as an organization until this is removed.

This, more than anything else, is slowing the adoption in our firm.

Yes - the app is brilliant but the limitations make it difficult when working with large groups.

Warren - Will you be removing the limit, or just moving it up a bit? Teams has a diverse user base and pretty much any arbitrary limit you impose will cause problems for at least some users.

If there are performance problems over a certain point, then by all means inform users of this, but allow them to choose to continue anyway.

Really keen to get this one... in many cases we are forced to create O365 groups when the only requirement is just to have conversations. Private channels could help with controlling the number of groups created as well but I think both features are needed.

Hello, our organization just migrated to MS365 tools from Google Suite last June. We are currently using Microsoft Teams for chats. One of our challenges is creating a group chat. We are 21 in the team and MS teams group chat allowed less than 20. You may consider also to update the number of participants in the group chat to at least 30. Thank you.

This needs to be added ASAP... if you have a team larger than 20 this is a deal breaker. Skype which is a free software has no issue with this.

Thank you for not listening to the customer for about 1 year. We migrated to Stride.

This feature needs to be added, or Microsoft needs to download Slack and look at how they implement private channels! We need private channels that not everyone has access to for conversations involving sensitive data. This is possible within Slack. Chat with more than 20 people would also work in Teams, but doesn't exist. Why doesn't Microsoft care about security??

Unbelievable - why would you move it to the backlog? What other features were prioritised by the Product Owner? Looking at the below comments this makes no sense...

Hey Warren, we are testing out the Channels fall back, and while it is alleviated the limit of 20, it still is not a suitable replacement for a chat room that can fit a larger pool of users. Please take this comment as a vote of 200 folks, (though not 200 looking to share one chat room)

Hey MS, we are implementing teams at our company and we will be having team groups of upwards of 30 folks or so in chats. We really need at least this cap of 18-20 folks to be trimmed out and the ability to remove a participant from Chat is a critical feature that needs to be rolled out.

15 months since first report. Still no action, either on relaxing the limit or implementing private channels.
