This is frustrating. I can add emojis in every other modern chat app simply. The Emoji-one collection is useful, but overlaps with :s :o and others.

I have a folder of 2800+ png files that I bulk downloaded from the Unicode site with a Chrome extension so that I can converse like a normal person in Teams. Please prioritize!

This is quite possible the most annoying and seemingly easy to fix issue with messaging in Teams. We live in a world of social media and expression through text which makes this a pretty glaring flaw in Teams. Having to go back and forth from a phone to Teams or sending the Emojis we need to a chat to Copy/Paste is absurd. Not having a full Emoji Keyboard in Teams is not an option.

Workaround: On Windows use the UnicodeInput Utility from this website https://www.fileformat.info/tool/unicodeinput/index.htm advantage: it works with other programs, too.

Seriously, still under review for 24 months? This is like the most basic feature for any messaging system. There are full length, released to theater, movies about emojis. Come on - this should be a quick win. Get rid of the awful animations and just support emojis like everyone else

this almost caused an HR issue for us. Apparently Microsoft's "custom" emojis (I read they're ported from Skype?) use actual emoji characters overlayed with Microsoft encoding, except they didn't fully implement it in Teams (what else is new?).
From what I've tested against, typing an actual emoji into the new message area will come across fine, however if you use the smiley face between the paper-clip & GIF icon, and select one of Microsoft's own little animations, it will put that animation into the text box, and when you hit [Send], it will appear in the other users chat window as that same microsoft animation. HOWEVER, the last message line on the left side of Teams, as well as the Windows notification that pops up uses the original emoji that the microsoft animation is encoded against.

The microsoft animation used is a facepalming yellow face, however the text shows the original emjoi of "person facepalming" from the microsoft emoji set. (whether it's just U+1F926, or the full "female faceplaming" of U+1F926/U+200D/U+2640/U+FE0F is unknown, see below).This caused an issue where one user was sending what they thought was the gender neutral microsoft faceplam animation, but what the other user first saw was the notification, which displayed as the female facepalm, which IT had to get involved in and explain it _wasn't_ a gender issue, but the result of Teams incorrectly displaying layered encoded characters.
Further nonsense - If you select the "******* head on wall" microsoft animation, then you get the "man faceplaming" emoji in text, which is interesting because that means _someone_ at microsoft chose to overlay the animation on the combination emoji of "man faceplaming" (U+1F926/U+200D/U+2642/U+FE0F), but for just the facepalming animation, decided to use the singular "person facepalming" (why get gender specific for one Microsoft animation vs another?) or went further and specifically chose the "woman faceplaming" emoji (who decides what gender gets to bang their head against the wall?)
For additional hilariousness, and possibly the most gregarious, the ms-animation for "Bandit" is actually overlayed on the "detective" emoji. Who comes up with these??!!?

Really feature of appropriate emoji support is under review for 1,5 years?
Guys if you wouldn't be part of corporate tools nobody will use ms teams, please open eyes and take a look at competitors.
Please take a breath and implement this feature, don't make developers and users angry.

Agree on the request. Unicode Emoji v11.0 nwo supports over 1600 emoji, teams features about 100 in the UI picker. Bit of a shame with every random messenger supporting it for years.
