Increase duration for desktop notifications
The channel/team on which the notification has been made should stay more/better/longer visible so that you won't miss one.
With the rollout of support for native Windows 10 OS native notifications, you are able to increase banner duration from 5 seconds all the way to 5 minutes. Native Mac notifications are in the process of rolling out, and once you have that build, you can also do the same for Mac notifications. (see https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17679433-persistent-notification)

Agree with everyone here, notifications need to be improved across the board. New channel notifications are turned off by default and no way to force them on by default. Terrible.
In exactly the same boat here. Teams is virtually useless for chat as the notifications are missed all of the time. Awful.

So frustrating to read all these comments matching my complaint - the chat notification in Teams totally, totally, sucks! The tiny little number, buried in the tiny Teams icon, buried in the Windows system tray is a joke.
If someone sends me a chat they are likely looking for a quick response, so I need a much better notification. A blinking icon within the Team system tray icon. A toast notification that comes to the top of my screen (let me snooze it or dismiss it).
Why is this concept so difficult for Microsoft to understand and why are they so slow to respond? There are 183 comments that go back all the way back to 2016!
Come on Microsoft, please get this fixed!
I searched out this forum because I'm constantly missing Teams messages. So I'm adding my two cents in the hopes in encourages the development of something to make notifications stand out. I vote for a popup that stays on your screen until you acknowledge it. Thanks for listening!
With our old system Jabber you had the option to have the notification stay on the screen until you've seen it. There also use to be an option to "shake" someone's screen to make them aware they have a notification they've been missing.
When we have any message in Group, we do not receive any notification or even no pop-up as well so miss any communication in group.
While for single chat we do not face such issues.

Please give us a "in your face" notification option

Yes, I miss notifications all the time. It was much better with Skype and Lync. Can't believe they haven't fixed this
Really need to revamp notifications. Currently it is way too easy to miss messages, and this is causing issues with our team. Why not just have a system like Slack does? That one works really well.

Notifications do not currently follow the appropriate Accessibility API standards for macOS apps.
Notifications should not be assigned the AXStandardWindow subrole. Something different should be used such as AXDialog, see https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appkit/nsaccessibilitysubrole?language=objc#declarations

I agree with this suggestion. Without some visual cues it's too easy to lose track of which notifications I've actioned/responded to.

With corporate presentations and screen sharing part of daily work, we cannot have banners appearing on people's screens for Chat (the primary use of Skype for Business before its forced replacement), and with notifications being disabled there is no indication in either the Tray Bar icon or on the Chat icon within Teams that a message is waiting. Until this is rectified, we'll be using Slack.

Notifications need to be more persistent and perhaps larger and "blinky". Most of my teammates complain about not seeing notifications and therefore missing meetings and other information that is timely.
Maybe a similar red dot (with number of posts) added to the "Teams" icon would help; please consider, thanks

I am getting complaints by our management that the notification is too Subtle.. The Toast or glide notification is fine if you are sitting at your desk. But if you leave and return the Red Number is too subtle. They much preferred the flashing icon Similar to Skype, in the task bar to get their attention.

Yes it would be nice to have a sound alert added to not miss notifications. When i am working i often don't pay attention to the small box blinking at the bottom of the screen.

It would be great to get a sound alert associated with someone reaching out to you in chat
pop up, notifications-We are unable to get notification in teams
Can the notifications have the option to have the first line or two of the notification rather than just a reference to which type of message it is? Saves a ton of time to filter by watching the notifications and knowing when to actually go to Teams to respond.
"Again, if you could give us a setting where we could determine the duration of the pop up window, adoption of Teams would be much better."
Pop-up duration is controlled by HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility\MessageDuration, which can be set by GPO Preferences.
Just note the duration affects ALL popups that use this Windows mechanism.
Unfortunately this doesn't solve the issue of missed notifications, it just gives people longer to notice them!
