Increase duration for desktop notifications
The channel/team on which the notification has been made should stay more/better/longer visible so that you won't miss one.
With the rollout of support for native Windows 10 OS native notifications, you are able to increase banner duration from 5 seconds all the way to 5 minutes. Native Mac notifications are in the process of rolling out, and once you have that build, you can also do the same for Mac notifications. (see https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17679433-persistent-notification)

I've started just using outlook for chat because of the fact that it's so easy to miss Teams notifications. At least the outlook icon in the taskbar will keep showing an indicator until you check your email even when it's at the foreground of a different monitor. Imagine your phone ringing for just 3 seconds and then going silent and the screen not even showing anything after that, even though the person on the other end of the line is sitting there wondering why you wont answer.

Using the system notifications would also bring Focus assist, which seems to be something somewhat demanded: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/18895405-pause-notifications-temporarily#comments https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16940644-add-quiet-hours-to-notifications

Maybe it's an issue with my phone, but, the notifications aren't reliable. I don't know when a message is coming in. I check my Teams app all of the time because I don't want to miss correspondence from my job.
teams notifications are not functional.
for something where u may get 20 notifications in an hour on different threads, notifications need to be sticky-until-dismissed ... so I can walk thru them all without missing some.
another idea would be to make "un-acknowledged" a different colour so when looking at a series of conversations, user can see which have not been ack'ed yet. clicking on a message acks it.

does it mean your can't see the message in main UI? I got the same problem!

Our organisation has just rolled out MS Teams. We were previously using Slack.
We are also using MS Office Communicator, but that is being decommissioned.
MS Teams will be the tool of choice from now on.
1. The pop-up notification in Teams is next to useless. It's too easily missed. MS Teams needs to have a configuration whereby the 'timeout' of the notification can be set (either individually, or globally). Ideally, the notification should stay on screen until the user acknowledges/closes it.
2. People in my organisation continued to use Office Communicator for 1-2-1 chats, as the pop-up chat window gave instant (and lasting) notification of a chat session. MS Teams is no better than sending an email in this regard. It needs a lasting notification.
Fixing this issue is critical to competing with Slack. Let me help you out.

The notification icon is too small and really hard to see with little color or boldness to attract the eye to it. Maybe a bell, an exclamation point, a megaphone, a message icon, or something different that looks like it's important. I have no idea what this shape is. Sorry, but I don't.

The notifications in Teams are FAR to easy to miss, to the point where I will often send a Classic Skype message to someone because they miss the Teams notification. Please allow us to adjust the notification sound and please allow the notifications to show up in the Notifications Center on Mac. The notifications are EXTREMELY easy to miss and cause issues with work productivity. If you were to mirror what is in Skype 7.x for Mac, it would be very, very appreciated.
We are testing Teams for our company with part of our team. We will not continue rolling our Teams to our company, because we are missing out on a lot of notifications:
* We need the ability to keep notifications on screen (no auto-hide after 3 seconds!)
* We need louder sounds!

Notifications do not exist in the current app for Android 8, even if permission is given
Missing notifications is so common where I work that most of the time, IF a developer bothers to send a message using Teams, they walk over and let you know.
Chat traffic has dropped significantly since we moved to Teams for reasons such as this one. Its just easier to use another communication method.

A very common lament. For a communication tool, the fact that there are persistent problems with notifications is a real worry.
When someone tries to contact me via chat, a small window pops up briefly and then disappears. With a multi-monitor setup, I sometimes I don't notice the pop-up, and if it happens while I'm away from my desk, there is no indication that I missed something. The systray icon should flash or show an alternate icon to indicate a missed message. I don't want an email... just something simple but visible on my taskbar.
I have missed so many messages that at this point the app feels irrelevant and wish to move to another communication system.

Who makes a program without the ability to control volume and notifications yourself? This is absurd. The amount of conversations I miss because there's no noise is insane. Our company is trying to move over to this, but it's not very reliable so far.
Even this Feedback questionaire is clunky and lacks forethought from overpaid Programmers.

I just browsed the entire documentation thinking "surely, noone has made a communication tool that cannot let you know someone mentioned you when it is in the background – nobody is that daft". Boy was I wrong.

I agree with the statement that perhaps a different color using the Dark theme would be good and/or changing the background of the notification window for that particular chat.
I miss notifications in team chats quite frequently. I think notifications on direct messages is ok, but it seems that unless someone mentions my name in the team chat there's no notification.
I would like an option to enable notifications for all activity in a chat, but also be able to mute them as well. I'm in lots of team chats and if I got notifications for everything it would be just as bad as notifications for none of them.
