Increase duration for desktop notifications
The channel/team on which the notification has been made should stay more/better/longer visible so that you won't miss one.
With the rollout of support for native Windows 10 OS native notifications, you are able to increase banner duration from 5 seconds all the way to 5 minutes. To learn more, please visit https://support.microsoft.com/office/change-your-notifications-style-in-teams-0da93820-93d0-4da3-86b6-fc28d19908e3 and https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/make-windows-easier-to-hear-9c18cfdc-63be-2d47-0f4f-5b00facfd2e1.
Native Mac notifications are in the process of rolling out, and once you have that build, you can also do the same for Mac notifications. (see https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17679433-persistent-notification)

"The team is working hard to make numerous changes with regards to notifications, but they haven’t forgotten about this item."
Is it too soon to infer that the team is no longer working ******* this, and that they HAVE now forgotten about it?
What's the legal time limit on the Teams client becoming Abandonware? ...
Adding my 2 cents. Please make the changes to mirror Japper and Skype.
People are missing notifications because they aren't changing their settings. As a business we would like notification to be opt-out not an opt-in.

Why can't you just make it more like Skype! Message from Skype flash in the taskbar until you acknowledge them or they go to your email as missed messages.
Please make it more visible when someone sent you a message in chat or one of the channels you follow. Perhaps do not just bold the chat but make it a bright color. Also, change the toolbar icon for the app to show when you have unread messages (in a team's channel or a personal chat). Even outlook has this functionality
We want to use it but if nobody sees messages in it - then it becomes really difficult to enforce it.

Three years almost and no movement on this?

We are looking at replacements for Skype just because of this issue. We have several members in our workgroup spread out over the world and really need to know when we need to talk directly. The chat messages are constantly being missed by all members. Why not just have the icon blink or change color so you notice the message

It's been over a year now. Teams chat is basically unusable as notifications for when there's a message in a Team chat (even if you do an @ to get people's attention) is not nearly sufficient as the majority of users never notice there's a pending message in a team chat until they are contacted via another means of communication and told to check team chat. It pretty much defeats the purpose of having team chats.

Would really welcome notifications to actually be notifications, to be more visible...

would love to see some movement here, notifications are terrible!
Missing notifications also means missing phone calls when Teams is used for voice communications as well. Agree with others, this was not an issue with Skype. Adding and always on top option would suffice.

do need this: many people in the org complain about how easy it is to miss a notification.
Seems notifications are an issue and have been for a while. Is there anything new?
This is coming up quite often in our preliminary deployment of Teams. Missing messages is quite common and there doesn't seem to be any way to get these notification methods to remain persistent. I'd prefer not to mark everything as Urgent in hopes that they'll see it in the 20 minutes it amplifies.

+1 When you are in meetings all day, you can miss a lot of messages. Having the pop-ups persistent on the desktop would be a big help. Trying to scroll through your list of conversations is worse than scrolling through email to what you've read.

Teams notifications windows/ popups are easily missed.
I need the notifications to
1) Last longer so I can see them before they disappear
2) Let me customize how big the notification window / popup is.
3) Let me choose where on my monitor, and which monitor the notification window / popup shows up on

STILL a problem!

Teams is an Electron app... that makes use HMTL and CSS to render the notifications. Maybe any one can interac with the notifications...
1. Install: Node.JS and NPM
2. Close Teams
3. Go to: "C:\Users\<your_user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Teams\current\resources"
4. Make a backup for app.asar file
5. Run: npx asar extract app.asar <destfolder>
6. Open the <destfolder>: ..\destfolder\lib\notifications
7. Make your changes
8. Delete app.asar file
9. Repack asar: npx asar pack <destfolder> app.asar
10. Open Teams and test the changes
I have over 30 channels. It's unrealistic to change every channels notification settings one by one.
Our users would like to use Teams more, but the missed notification "feature" (probably due to too many active devices/browser sessions still logged in) is leaving a perception of the tool not being very reliable, which make them continue to stick with other tools like Slack and WeChat. Please make this a higher priority. Thanks.
