Increase duration for desktop notifications
The channel/team on which the notification has been made should stay more/better/longer visible so that you won't miss one.
With the rollout of support for native Windows 10 OS native notifications, you are able to increase banner duration from 5 seconds all the way to 5 minutes. To learn more, please visit https://support.microsoft.com/office/change-your-notifications-style-in-teams-0da93820-93d0-4da3-86b6-fc28d19908e3 and https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/make-windows-easier-to-hear-9c18cfdc-63be-2d47-0f4f-5b00facfd2e1.
Native Mac notifications are in the process of rolling out, and once you have that build, you can also do the same for Mac notifications. (see https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17679433-persistent-notification)

better notification for the team chats
Brandon Murray commented
Using the dark theme, I have to hunt around a bit to find chats with new messages. Since the only notification that a chat with a specific person has new messages is that the text is bolded, it's easy to miss. Would be nice if new chats bubbled up to an "active chats" group or something like that. Or maybe a red notification as to how many chats I haven't read, similar to the one on the "Chat" tab, but specific to a chat.
Currently, notifications are hit or miss. The DM's and @ mentions work, but a chat channel or team update does not. I like that it doesn't send a notification by default like Skype does, but we should be able to toggle it. I'd really like to see notification toggles for each channel and/or team.
Also, custom emojis and emoji reactions. :)

Follow a channel a terrible solution. Especially where most of the users in our groups are ONLY using mobile app (Africa), they might check emails once a week at a central venue. Any app that relies on a second party notification (e.g. email) is NOT going to work for us :( Need a red pop-up notification on icon, like WhatsApp has. Isn't the idea of a platform like Yammer to DECREASE email use?

New incoming messages are very easily missed due to lack of visual and repetitive notification. The teams icon in the doc should bounce repeatedly AND show the red notification bubble whenever new messages come in. This should happen regardless of whether the Teams window is active/selected for those with multiple monitors to still have that visual prompt. Users should be able to select what criteria they want to trigger this notification - i.e. Incoming messages for all groups/channels, Messages where I am mentioned, Direct messages to me, Incoming messages for channels I follow... etc. Look at what options Slack allows as a starting place.

I have mutilple group channels and it's very hard not to get notification and easily can missed it
Totally agree. Popup notifications are NECESSARY in some work environments
Notifications should stand out more, like the e-mail alerts, IMHO.
An @ mention should give a notification of some kind in outlook. This would help Outlook-a-holics in our organization and make sure nothing gets missed. This could be a Conversation History tab function maybe?
Yes, and not only that, but chat notifications show up as a pop-up window on PC for about 5 seconds and THEN DISAPPEARS.
The Notification needs to remain [pop-up window] until you click it, otherwise I rarely see it.
"Follow a Channel" is a TERRIBLE solution. how is it Microsoft can ***** up something as simple as a notification.
Agreed @Rick Kisse
Totally Agreed, we are having a problem with missing notifications
What is the difference between using star sign on the channel and 'following channel' ?

We've tried to use this company-wide, but have abandoned it until we can get notifications. Application is useless without notifications.

I would add the notifications should popup in the web interface, too. That is, as a persistent window separate from the browser, i.e., a popup in the browser tab/window is not good enough. This will also allow Linux clients (who use the browser interface) to make use of the tool. As has been said previously, it's pretty useless without popup persistent notification of changes in individual chats, teams, Notes/Files updates, etc.

Notifications please. App is kind of useless. Can't keep looking at it all the time. Push notifications have to work.

This superb app need some serious popup notification..more or less same as whatsapp or Viber. We're missing lot of communications and chats from our teams. I beleive that this is a must. Desktop, MAc and Mobile
