Mark message as unread so I can return to it
Mark message as unread so I can return to it and read it later. Marking messages is good for other cases (eg. to have in hand company info/links/etc.)
Use the “bookmark” function instead. In the upper right side of every message in Microsoft Teams, is a little bookmark icon. If you click that, it will save that message or thread in your “Saved” tab, which you can access by clicking your face in the upper left corner of the app.

I don't feel like the bookmarking is as effective as a mark as unread feature... the bookmarks aren't front and center to your work in Teams
there is a difference between unread and saved. I would like the functionality of both

Thank you for your answer.
I'm sorry I made a mistake. By "marking messages" I ment bookmarking.
I think it's good for other cases. It's the same thing as it's in emails (flagging vs. unread). Bookmarking/flagging is something like action point for me (I already read it, but I need to return to it in the future possibly repeatedly). Typically link to some company page or todo or some chat related information.
On the other hand when I e.g. came to work after week of vacation I need to have time to read everything and it helps me marking which part I already read (right now everything is marked immediately as read and I am lost if I need to interrupt my reading and get back later). And it could be too many messages to bookmark anyway.
Marking as unread will also prevent missing something when I open channel by mistake and I don't have time to read it right now (it happens to me surprisingly often, especially on my phone and it also could be too many messages to bookmark).
I use both Slack and MS Teams daily and this is one of the biggest pains for me.
