Allow meeting participants to mute each other or mute all
This is a feature of Google Hangouts we use all the time. When someone is in a noisy environment, has a mic/speaker setup that causing feedback, or is banging on their keyboard, they don't always realize it, and it's very useful for someone else to be able to mute the participant who is causing a disruptive amount of noise but not speaking.

Hi everyone!
Got some great news to share this feature request is now live to the public!
Mute someone in a meeting
Mute individual meeting participants straight from the meeting roster to cut down on background noise. If someone has been muted, they’ll get a notification letting them know. They’ll be able to unmute themselves if they need to chime in.
Mute everyone in a meeting
If you ever need to mute all the other participants in a meeting, head to your meeting roster and select Mute all. Each individual will get a notification and be able to unmute themselves if they need to.
Thank you all for the great feedback. We will continue to improve Teams and your feedback is key part in our efforts.

I don't like any of the suggestions that restrict muting to a single individual. Everyone should be able to mute all, even if only for themselves. My use case is a distributed team with a working-hours persistent video chat (always-on) and it drives me bonkers with distraction unless everyone remembers to mute after every chat. It lowers our productivity.

I'd hate to immediately follow up on this but where does this stand given the leak regarding Skype? Will this become immediately available during that migration? An ETA for this feature is a must....

We just experienced our first 80 user call today without the auto mute or mute all feature and it was quite chaotic. Please provide an update as to where this is in development.

Just started using the Meeting capability since they released the Outlook integration. Works great but my mind was blown when I could not mute noisy members. How do you make a conferencing tool without a mute feature! Must have feature for sure.

Allow the admins of the teams to set up Mute all the participants of a meeting, and if this configuration is enabled all the new participants that enter after the meeting start, put as silent soon after.

Ditto. I want to mute the guy next to me, only for me, so I don't hear my own feedback.
'I would really enjoy this feature, but my usecase is slightly different.
I work in a scrum-team where most participants are located in close proximity while a few are staying at other locations. When participants at my location are speaking, the delay caused by TEAMS is frustrating and acts like an echo.As a user in a an audio call
When several participants are located in close proximity to me
I want to locally mute these participants
So that i dont hear their comments twice' -

Similarly, the meeting organizer should be able to mute whoever they want - preventing anyone from hearing the muted person
