I want to use multiple Teams accounts at the same time
LOG INTO MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS
We need the ability to sign in with multiple accounts. Many of us have several O365 accounts for various reasons (consulting, etc), and we’d need to be able to access teams directly. This is not a federation or B2B scenario, but a case where new O365 credentials have been created in another tenant for us. The app today only allows a single signed-in account at a time and that’s a blocker.
As stated in the last update, the ability to use multiple Teams accounts at the same time is being implemented in stages for Desktop. Faster tenant switching functionality on the Windows client has been rolled out to the public ring fully, and Mac will begin rolling out soon. Work is in progress on cross-tenant notification improvements, and support for multiple accounts on desktop will follow. We’ll keep you posted!
Note: The ability to use multiple Teams accounts at the same time is supported on iOS & Android today.

Microsoft shouldnt really consider themselves as competitor to slack before this feature is implemented to the fullest. Right now its a gimped messenger app and cant really compete with Slack at this point. Sad to say, i really had high hopes for Teams when it was launched

This is a huge pain area. Hope Microsoft is working to roll out a fix to address this. I am sure there are many of us who have multiple accounts for various reasons (e.g. subsidiaries with different domains)

I can only conclude that this is a case of over-engineering at this point. Opensource the client and let the user community hack it together. Have a "come-to-jesus" moment and really map out what is needed vs. what the devs would like to include (fast switching was never the ask ... I've I've said for YEARS now in this very post).
Once a month I check this post for updates ... it spent 10 months with nothing ... then the last two months in 2019 it looked like things were happening ... only to apparently stall out again.
This is such a HUGE pain. I work with multiple customers on my Windows 10 machine. I can't communicate with them at the same time as I can only be logged on with one. A huge design oversight by the Teams Product Team and something that should have been rectified A LONG time ago. Crazy this isn't given a much higher priority than it seems it has.

Look at Mailchimp, you can add different accounts and login in to each one for different clients all with the same login YOU as a consultant. It would be great to be able to do this in teams, as I like most here work on several accounts for clients. Thanks
So a picture is worth (see attached)... Here's what I'm envisioning. You're logged in using your credentials, or other credentials, it doesn't matter. But you should have the ability to see all your guest and company teams in one place. Along with a stream of activity and alerts.
Its unbelievably surprising to know that Multiple Account Feature is still "Under discussion"... !!
We are in Year 2020 and in this Fast growing corporate world, having Multiple Accounts is VERY common.

How is "faster tenant switching" even close to "use multiple accounts at the same time"?
* You can't receive calls from your org if you've switched to a client org. That's what is meant by "same time".
* You can't switch between separate accounts. I'm not talking about a guest account (like username#EXTemail@example.com) but with a completely separate account. Many customers give separate credentials.

You write that using multiple accounts is supported on iOS today, and it would be a big help if that was actually the case. However, although I was able to switch between two accounts for three or four days after I added a second account on my phone, today I received an error message saying that only one administered account per device is allowed, and I had to choose which account I wanted to delete. So apparently, it is only supported until the system registers that you've done so …

Seems you're working on cross-tenant notification, not multiple accounts. This is such a huge every-day pain...

Can anyone from Microsoft give a realistic and accurate time-frame on being able to login to multiple Teams accounts via the desktop client? @Alex you indicated it's being worked on. It's now more than 3 years since the OP wrote his "I want to use multiple Teams accounts at the same time" post!
It really is quite critical for anyone working within multiple O365 environments (i.e. most likely many millions of corporate people around the globe; anyone involved in consulting, outsourcing, contracting, offshoring, joint ventures, public-private partnerships and alliances!) It is such a pain to not be able to be logged-on to multiple accounts and therefore catch all the important notifications, messages, etc in real-time.
This is urgently needed, NOW!!!

It would be helpful to provide some guidance for how multi-account access works. I see no evidence of it in my Windows client (fast or slow). At one point I recall this functionality was there but extremely sluggish. Now I cannot find it.

I appreciate the ability to quickly swap organization units in Android (and I assume the same is possible in iOS). However, this is not yet available in either the Windows desktop client nor in the brand new Linux desktop client.
If nothing else, the ability to quickly switch org units would make testing of advanced features a godsend. Please implement this ASAP. Thank you.

What is the ETA for this?
We really would like to start using Teams in our organization. Right now our customers are using it and our developers were added as guests. We can't use it for ourselves at the same time, because of the missing notifications / chat without having to change the tenant.
In my experience very few of my clients give guest access. The fast tenant switching is - in reality - practically worthless for me as a consultant.
What I need is to be logged in with multiple accounts at the same time and also receive notification of all those accounts.
With the current, in my opinion, wrong priorities of the Teams team and the current development speed I won't be able to use Teams with most of my clients for quite some time and can only hope that they still use Slack, Zoom or Hangouts in parallel.
