I want to use multiple Teams accounts at the same time
LOG INTO MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS
We need the ability to sign in with multiple accounts. Many of us have several O365 accounts for various reasons (consulting, etc), and we’d need to be able to access teams directly. This is not a federation or B2B scenario, but a case where new O365 credentials have been created in another tenant for us. The app today only allows a single signed-in account at a time and that’s a blocker.
The engineering team is continuing to work on adding support for multiple accounts on desktop clients. We will first launch support for 1 work/school account and 1 personal account so users can enjoy Teams for work and personal side-by-side. Windows and MacOS. Support for multiple work accounts is still being worked on and will come at a later date.
You can track status via the roadmap here: https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/roadmap?searchterms=68845.

I have been waiting on multiple windows for many Teams functions for a while. I use multiple windows for all my programs. Isn't that why it runs on "Windows"? How can this not be part of the initial Teams' design? It is like the old Excel in the 1990s.
Please MS, use existing design rules and don't have each development team go rogue.

We need the function multiple accounts
We need the ability to use multiple work accounts, not the ability to add one personal account!. I dont understand how the engineering team got the idea to implement the ability to add one personal account when the initial uservoice request clearly states whats needed.
uservoice: we need apples!
engineeringteam: brings broccoli (and maybe apples for later)
either way, its nice it still is being worked on.
Will the update make it possible to log into multiple accounts in the one tenant - ie a generic or shared account being used for chat support in a service desk scenario?

Why are the new updates enabled by default and not disabled by default?
This can't come soon enough for multiple work accounts. In the roadmap, it looks like the release scheduled for February is only the one announced above to add a Personal account. If the sequencing is a technical one -- it's easier for MS to build the UI and code to support multiple simultaneous accounts via a personal account, so that's just a stepping stone to get to multiple work accounts -- that's fine. Otherwise, it's more like slap in the face. I have not heard ANYONE ask for that. On the other hand, about 1/3 of the people I work with desperately want the ability to run multiple Teams WORK accounts at the same time.

Multiple Work accounts are required
@Alex this is useless unless you add support for multiple work accounts. Who on earth does even use personal/school accounts? 0.0001% of users? I didn't even know that you can register a personal account in Teams...

We need multiple WORK accounts!!!
@ALEX (Teams Engineering). Please can you advise if the same roadmap number is being used for the work on multiple tenants as well as 1 personal + 1 work/school account. The roadmap description is currently unclear to me as it only specific about switiching between ONE personal and ONE work/school rather than MULTIPLE. Is there any further news on the OP's request since your last on Nov 5 2020?
while not ideal, as you wouldn't get notification from teams in other organizations, it would be nice - in the interim at least - if the desktop client had a way to switch between organizations like the android client does.
I'm using the linux (preview) client, so I apologize if this feature is already present in the Windows/Mac clients
I want to use multiple professional Teams accounts at the same time. as a consultant you are working for many tenants!! How need a private account ?!?

In addition to being logged into more than one Teams account, please add notifications for "background" Teams.

I dont like this solution and cannot wait for true multiple account setup on the teams desktop app.
My Solution (I have 3 different teams accounts, no guest or external between them):
- Use a different browser for each account
- Edge = account 1 (navigate to teams)
- settings -> apps -> install this site as an app
Sign into Account 2 on the desktop app. Now you will have 2 icons on your start menu and one is Account 1 as a web app and the other is teams desktop.
Keep in mind this is using the web browser so not full support. I found Edge has a big delay in screen sharing through this.
You will get notifications when people leave messages when you allow notification on the web app. Phone calls dont have a pop up. But you will hear it ringing and can go to the web app and see the call coming in.
Not perfect but you can stay on top of notifications and calls with 2 accounts. For more accounts you can use different browsers. Using the same browser with multiple account apps fails hard. would not suggest.
I want to use tag in private channel in Teams
I want to use multiple professional Teams accounts at the same time
We are a school with a staff member who is also a mum of a student at the school. The staff member mum was logged on to Teams first, now the child can't logon to any of their online teaching; we've tried app for one, browser for the other but it doesn't work. It's a real problem for us.
@Alex: This is a greatful news but most will need it to use for two organizations instead one Organization and one private account as Jacob Polden wrote.
I have to admit that this is what I need most of all. It should be in different sessions but in same time. I hope this functionality will coming soon.
@Madiha: In the roadmap the target date February is written. That means the exact date is not known currently. In moment it is in development and test. You should use the link posted by Alex.
when will it roll out, do we have a date?

Personal accounts does not solve this. Multiple accounts for multiple organisations!
