Make it possible to remove and/or rename the default tabs (files & notes)
It would be really great if we would be able to remove / rename the default tabs. A lot of times files / notes are too generic names for the tabs, so renaming would be really helpful then. :-)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this feature request has been declined.

This seems like a basic option. Why has this been declined? This is the first thing every medium to large company wants to point at their existing document management solution ...

Teams app is great but in real life we often already have a SharePoint where we put all company files. And all company files need to stay there. So if we could map on (or remove default Files tab and recreate a new one pointing to) a subfolder of company SharePoint, that would be awesome.

With such approach MS Teams will die and no one will even remember it

I also came here as one of the first things I want to do is rename/hide the default tabs. Please reopen!

If you want to create more tabs the default tabs are in the way, especially on the app. The channel seems cluttered and new or inexperienced teammembers don't even realize that there are more tabs.
Please let us remove the default ones to make room for the ones we need.

This needs to be re-opened.
Why was it declined in the first place?
We often run into scenarios, where those tabs don't make any sense and we need to delete or at least reorganize them in the navigation. -

Please have an option to hide or disable tabs in Teams. Or even an option to rename the tab.

If I can change the display name of the Shared Documents default library without changing the URL, why can that be the case for these tabs, too?

I agree that it needs to be reopened. I rearranged my OneNote sections and now I have a tab for Notes that is a dead link. I'd just like to remove the tab or make it optional. But to require it to appear on each channel is a little too pushy.

This needs to be re-opened. Having a Staff Notebook/Notes makes sense in some situations, but why is it mandated for every team?
I now have teams in use with about 100 people, and the number one question/request I get BY FAR is "How do we remove the Staff Notebook tab"?
Think about that for a second. I rolled out a new way of working, a new paradigm for collaborative working, and I have many times more questions about this than everything else put together!

The default onenote tab is broken for my one of my teams created when Teams used to create a new section in an Office 365 Group's OneNote notebook (I deleted the section). What should I do about this? I have a broken tab that I cannot get rid of.

One of the first things I tried to do was remove/rename the default tabs. I'm guess this is the case for many customers... Common Microsoft, listen to your customers.

We want to use existing SharePoint areas not the teams area in sharepoint as its hard to share the files with people outside the team.

Why was this declined? And how is it that some people are getting Notes as a default tab? We get Wiki which I would also love to have go away as a default - but at least I can delete that tab. Our defaults we can't remove or rename are conversations and files

Not be able to remove tabs is for us the reason for not using teams for learning content. Huge mistake by MicroSoft...
