How can we make Microsoft Teams better?

Make it possible to remove and/or rename the default tabs (files & notes)

It would be really great if we would be able to remove / rename the default tabs. A lot of times files / notes are too generic names for the tabs, so renaming would be really helpful then. :-)

Oh No maam... declined? A product we pay for should be configurable by the CLIENT.

This is a big show stopper for us. I can't see why we need to have a "General" tab as the landing page - and the only information on this is "Someone left the team" "*** joined the team" "*** left the team".
Also "Files" are not the REAL files - it is attachments for chats. This is NOT something we like to show the users.

We should be able to re point the behind the scenes directory to a new folder path

Please make it so that the default file tab can be deleted or pointed to cloud storage (other than sharepoint)

Please allow for Removing, Renaming or changing file path/location for the Files Tab. We have existing SharePoint structure with existing permissions we would like to utilize.

We want to have a single "folder", to store all files. Either allow to delete files tab, and we can add a tab linked to any required library/folder, OR Please allow "Files" tab to be configured to any required "Library/folder".

Really need this, will become a major blocker to my company's Teams/SharePoint deployment

Just spoke with another colleague and they think its mad that you can rename any tab to any name expect the files tab that points to some team location that is not used.

This is a must have feature, becuase cureently we are going to be ignoring the files tab and using another tab called 'the real files' or somethign to that effect, leaving this orphoned tab on its own just becuase it can't be removed, hidden, renamed or redirected. Any of these options mentioned would make >400 voters happy.

Well, then are you planning to fix the fact that renaming the channel doesn't rename the associated folder in SharePoint ?

Let's assume there's a good reason for this feature request to have been declined. After all, the request itself is legitimate. One could even say obvious. So if it's rejected, there must be a pretty darn good justification for it.

Could someone from Microsoft elaborate a little bit and explain the rationale behind the decision? Because otherwise, it's as if Microsoft were just _asking_ to get bashed on these forums.

Transparency goes a long way towards building trust. And right now, it doesn't look like anyone on this thread trusts Microsoft cares about its customers.

As a company IT administrator, we like to use our own Projectmanagement document structure where we put our files. Therefore it would be very nice if there was a possibility to set a existing location to the files Tab. That way we can better search trough our files and build views with selections over the whole structure

Allow admins to hide the default tabs. We have no use for them. We manage files and notes in a different way.

why would this be declined? , as a large company we don't want to split our data up into different sites.

the entire teams tab has been disabled for this very reason for our company until something could fix this.

SO microsoft decided that teams needed a chat room and file repo. These can not be even be hidden or moved. So there are not tabs but system requirements. Which would mean that if you ar enot using chat and file repo as a main use as a team tehn youa re not using the product as it was intended. Any other tabs are thus meant to be optional or something. This is confirmed by the fact that you can not even export the wiki pages to a word document. It's a real shame really. If those tabs are required by the system then one work around could be the possibility to hide them or move them. Easy enough I would say. But there must be some grand design somewhere..

    @Warren

This simply MUST be revisited and included in a future release. We MUST be able to perform AT LEAST ONE of these actions: Rename /Hide /Remove, for both conversations and Files. The tool is dead on arrival if we, as administrators cannot customise this basic stuff. We integrate our 3rd party cloud storage as an additional tab, so we're left with duplication for file storage and lots of confused users and lots of user queries being generated.

What a huge step backwards from SharePoint. We are a very large enterprise customer (~100K users) and will have to consider other options soon.

This would be really useful, please reconsider your stance on this.
