Make it possible to remove and/or rename the default tabs (files & notes)
It would be really great if we would be able to remove / rename the default tabs. A lot of times files / notes are too generic names for the tabs, so renaming would be really helpful then. :-)
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this feature request has been declined.

I believe this needs to be revisited since the issue of how the files tab operates in conjunction with Sharepoint and Planner is causing some of the problem here.
Case in point. You create a Planner and invite people to the planner... that creates a sharepoint site. When you go to sharepoint a popup prompts you to create a team. If you create a team then it creates a new file storage for the team. That is very confusing and you should be able to either point it at the sharepoint site or remote the files tab.

Reconsider this please. I dont want to have to stand up a multitude of Office 365 groups for each topic we want to have Office 365 resources based around.
I.E. - Leadership group which utilizes a certain channel within the Leadership teams "team". We created a separate document library for this channel because we dont want it mucking with the root document library, but the files tab and the Document library tab make it confusing and not streamlined.

Some channels do not have a need to store files. Having a file tab that you can not remove or change makes it confusing for users
As long as Microsoft doesn't offer a solution to store all files at a central place, we will not invest in teams to replace file shares. We tried to add cloud storage but couldn't make it work since the files tab was still presented and users where confused where to save files.
- Ability to provide attach a central azure based storage object for all teams related files

Why has it been declined? This is a bad idea which ignores the wishes of so many admins and makes the adoption of MS Teams even messier. Please listen to your customers.

Pick this option up please!!!

The Files tab creates so much unnecessary confusion. This really needs to be reconsidered.
This is such a disappointment still to this day. I want a way to remove the files tab in Teams. People using the files tab is creating duplicate information in Sharepoint, which is our system of record. This is creating confusion and human errors.
Revoke permission for the auto created 'General' folder in SharePoint so they don't see it in SharePoint.
Add a sub folder in 'General' folder called 'DO NOT PUT FILES HERE'. So that when a user clicks Files tab they will be reminded not to use it. (if have a SharePoint Document Library tab you. could inform users to go there instead)
You can also add an alert through SharePoint so you can be notified if a user accidentally adds a file here.
A very clunky, messy and time consuming working around for what could be a simple UI hide option.
That's incredibly disappointing and unhelpful. Please allow peopleto use your programs they way they need to instead of forcing us to use it your way. Thanks
The default files tab greatly limits the architecture modelling for upgrades from classic SharePoint structures. No thought has been put into declining this, why wouldn't you allow users to specify a default library location while creating a team rather than forcing an ugly structure behind the scenes and limiting upgradability?
Has been a major impact to the user experience for several of my clients.
Please let us rename the files tab and allow linkage to the Main SharePoint Document Library as I have removed the General folder from the teamsite. I use metadata on documents and do not allow the old folder structure on our sites. I thought this was the purpose of SharePoint to find all documents in the same place using filters & views to keep documents together.
What I have done to guide users on all the team groups, is to place a txt file in the General Folder with a file name: "Please use the Document Library Tab above.txt".
See attached image.

Please explain what the workaround to avoid file storage confusion is then.
This is a significant, but easily fixed, impediment to adoption.
We have several personas that just need a very simple interface to replace Skype basic functions. We need the ability to control what tabs we display for various groups with different capability needs. Anyone reviewing these comments?
Declined for what reason Warren? You can't decline something without providing some valid reason at least to your customers?

Just a plain "Hide Tab" option would do the job. So simple, probably to simple....

This needs to be seriously reconsidered.
