Move conversations to different channels
If a conversation is started in one channel but gains importance to the point where the conversation deserves its own channel. Or a conversation was started in the wrong channel and needs to be moved
if you have an existing post that you want to show in a different channel, you can edit the message and cross-post. This will add the top-level post to the different channel, but will not include the full set of replies. We will keep this request in mind as we evolve the cross-posting feature in the future and update if the status changes.
Details on cross posting can be found here: https://support.office.com/article/cross-post-a-channel-conversation-in-teams-9c1252a3-67ef-498e-a7c1-dd7147b3d295.
As suggested below, a large topic has splintered into smaller subjects but I cannot move the content into separate channels, very disappointed in Microsoft.

Yes that would be great - often a small side topic becomes an important concept and deserves its own channel

@Suphatra, Does this also allow the combination of threads in a single chat together? Meaning if someone replies outside of a thread, within the same channel chat, can they be combined?
This is a basic need.
Been using teams for one day and need this capability.
Might look elsewhere - does slack offer this capability

Much needed. And really, should be ready if if it's actually in the works since 2018.

bump, we certainly need this feature in our company. we have doubled our management staff in the past year and need to move channels into much more specific regions.
I see this is being worked on but the last update is 2018? Do we know how soon or if this is even likely to happen?

We really need this functionality, it would be really helpful to move a conversation once it is no longer current so that we can focus only on discussions in progress - like in an inbox. Can we have an update on this please?
Very much required as companies grow and need to organize the chats and history

We have the same issue, a conversation on a specific subject is in our "General" "Channel" instead of the dedicated "Feature" channel and we are not able to move it to clean up
If this was in the works in 2018, wondering where it is at in Jan 2020? Please advise.
Being able to rename General under a team to be its own channels.

Three years old. Over a year since the last information-free update.
And a high priority due to the deficiencies of the chat UI which makes it easy to start conversations in the wrong place.
Let's get this done!

Any news on feature development?
Is this still being worked on? It would be nice for organizing- this are getting cluttered on one channel and need to move to another.

We really need this since launching Teams. The tool allows me to improve organization of channels and information. In order to keep previous posts but utilize a new channel for collaboration, I need to be able to move conversations/posts from one channel to another channel (even different Teams).

Would really like to have this.

has this made its way to the public roadmap yet?
