Fix pasting of images
Pasting images is somewhat supported - see https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public-preview/suggestions/16925587-ability-to-paste-images) but is not correctly implemented (at least on Windows).
Using Google Chrome, if I right click on any image on a webpage and select "Copy Image", I can not paste it into Teams. I can paste this on competitors products, such as HipChat and of course into MS Paint.
There are different issues pasting from other browsers. Edge and IE both paste a blank image. Firefox has similar behavior to Chrome (nothing is pasted at all).
This is a very common use case - pasting an image from a web page. Please make it work!
You should experience significant improvements in copy & paste of images within Teams, as well as to & from Teams. We are aware of a few remaining issues, but the most common cases are resolved.
Thanks again for your patience on this one.

is there any timeline on when this will be fully fixed? Currently pasting images from SnagIt with a transparent background fail, while images with a tranparent background from Greenshot seem to work just fine
After copying the image in the web browser, go to Word and click the down arrow on the Paste icon (Home tab), select Paste Special, then select Device Independent Bitmap.
Works in Outlook as well.
I don't know if it works in Teams.

I ran across an issue today with copying pictures from OneNote into Teams, I am able to copy the image in to a word doc and then copy it to Teams but I'm unable to copy directly from OneNote into Teams.
@Alex: The pasting from Teams into other tools (Photoshop, XNview, etc) does not work currently.
Steps to reproduce:
1) In teams chat, rightclick on picture preview > copy image
2) in Photoshop or other image tools > paste: nothing is pasted
1) in teams, clicking on the preview > open the image bigger
2) tehre is no copy image, neither in the menue nor at the right click.
do i miss anything here?
You can't copy if zoomed-in. Bad UX.
This is still a problem after more than a year? The feature is useless.
I cut an image from Teams, try to paste it into an Outlook email and it doesn't work. Why the bleeding **** does Teams have its own clipboard that it doesn't share anywhere else?

How many votes does it take to get an issue bumped to a higher priority and fixed sooner than 6 months? As of 1/8/2020 this is still an issue.

Allowing cut and paste options in Teams is an important feature currently missing. I have found myself, particularly for meetings, bypassing invites within the Teams environment because I can not paste image or screen shot. In many meetings, we will include screen shots in the meeting invite for easy reference. When scheduling a Teams meeting in outlook, there are no issues, we can paste additional information with no problems. But with Teams, I have to save the pasted item, put it in the Teams library (or another online storage). Copy the URL of the screen shot and add it as URL text into the meeting announcement. That's a lot of extra steps.

See also this post which is also asking for the same action:

I was having the same problems with 2020.0.2.
I was using a little applet called ClipX that stores multiple pastes. After I disabled ClipX, the Snagit problems went away, and I pasting into Teams (and other apps) works fine now.
So maybe check to see if you have another app conflicting with the copy and paste feature in Snagit... ?

I'm trying to copy an image from SnagIt and paste it into a Teams chat. The image will not paste/appear.
Paste does not work copying images from OneNote to Teams. In order to be able to paste the image into Teams, it is first necessary to change the clipboard image format via a 3rd application (such as a clipboard manager).
It is a bit ironic that two Office 365 apps can't exchange their data directly.
I believe most, if not all, of the reported problems pasting images into Teams stem from unsupported clipboard image format tags.

Not working when using a 3rd-party Snip-It Tool (Greenshot)
Pasting works with Windows-Built-in Snip-It

Still an issue today - still cannot paste from certain sources - most notable as others have mentioned is from SnagIt to Teams.
I have noticed if I simply screen clip using SnagIt - and immediately paste it does work.
However the minute I annotate anything in SnagIt - the only way to get it into teams is to save / attach... this is really bad.
This used to work without fail. Some upgrade between SnagIt and Teams made this break - I used to do this without issue.
Does not work in edge whatever app you paste into - eg slack
When will you add copy? Why do you have "open online", "download" and "get link" when the most important use case is to copy image and paste into another application?
