Add Subject for conversations
a channel is representing group of ppl that working together on some project or have things in common that groups them. and every project it has its own conversations. but the thing missing about conversations are subjects.
the subject will help in know what this conversation is about from a glance. and if there is an option to collapse all conversations or another view to just view the subjects under each channel that will make navigation faster.
search should allow me to filter by subject as well.

Adding a subject line to a message makes it a lot more scannable for everyone else. To do that, first you need to expand your compose box by clicking format icon. From there, just type the subject line you want in the first line of your expanded compose box.

Yes adding a subject to the conversation is available when you actively wanted to start one with it. How about being able to add after a conversation has been started? It would be nice feature to add so an user can modify or add a subject to a thread so we can search and organize better.

An organisation needs the ability to make a subject mandatory.

This seems to be possible in my iOS app but ONLY if I edit a message after I have sent (it?!?!) as the subject field only shows in the edit screen. Then the subject appears in larger bold text on both the app and the desktop programme, but there is no way that I can see to add it in my desktop programme. Very confusing. It's so helpful but we need consistency.

Please make this mandatory for all new threads in a given channel

I just tried the add subject line. It's not true. It's not a real subject line. It doesn't stand out, isn't usable for organization. And of course still lots and lots of extra clicks and distractions to be able to do not much really. And the main irritating thing with teams, you can't hit enter to get to a new line. This forces you into disorganized blobs. It seems the send button has been combined with the enter button.

"Adding subject lines" is not sufficient. Like most of teams' there's still too much wasted screen space (and worse if defaulted) and too many extra mouse clicks and navigation to be able to efficiently work in multiple teams. I was very avid at first, but find myself drifting back to Outlook. Actually, I miss public folders which could do these things more efficiently.
It appears to me that the majority work in a single team and not with an eye to efficiently moving around multiple teams.

I completly agree that it should be a default rather than hiding it. This would prevent completly cluttered conversion.
Moreover it was also requested to provide a navigation view on subject as well as supporting search on subjects.
Both would be extremly helpful to use conversations efficiently instead of wasting time in search or dumping ever new topics which are already addressed

It is available in the desktop Teams App. But I couldn't have guessed it was hidden there. It has nothing to do with formatting in my opinion.
But thanks anyway! -

@v-brorob - RE. 'We have this', you are 50% correct. The subject line is available when clicking the format icon in browser based Teams, but it is NOT available from within the Teams app when working on my Win10 PC. Pressing the format icon does not display the Add a subject line :-(

This should be expanded by default for new conversations. Or, rather than showing replies, just have the conversation subject and a post displayed where the user most click on the conversation to enter it, similar to email threading. You should see how Twist does this.

v-brorob - I like your comment but most of our MS Teams community don't expand the compose box by clicking format icon. From my point of view I like a combined compose box starting with a subject line like in email. Otherwise you have always to rework new conversations and Owner is not allowed to do it and will increase is daily work when it is enabled.

I don't see the ability to add a subject line to conversations within a channel. Am I missing something?

Subject line needs to be mandatory or at least visible by default. It is completely hidden now.

It's not possible today to retroactively add a Subject to a Thread. Say I forgot to set the Subject when I initially started the conversation, I would like the ability to go back and name the conversation something useful.

I definitely see where to add the Title (and that capability is key), but I think some users have concern above it not propagating to the saved discussion view (the title). It's confusing/imprecise for toggling between key conversations, from that saved conversation reference point. This capability would add a lot of value

or ability to "alias" conversations, specific to an individual user (or labels, perhaps)

When a channel have many threads it's hard to find what you need fast or have an overview of discussed topics.
It would help to have a subject or title for each thread. much like an email threads have
