Add Subject for conversations
a channel is representing group of ppl that working together on some project or have things in common that groups them. and every project it has its own conversations. but the thing missing about conversations are subjects.
the subject will help in know what this conversation is about from a glance. and if there is an option to collapse all conversations or another view to just view the subjects under each channel that will make navigation faster.
search should allow me to filter by subject as well.
Adding a subject line to a message makes it a lot more scannable for everyone else. To do that, first you need to expand your compose box by clicking format icon. From there, just type the subject line you want in the first line of your expanded compose box.

Microsoft Teams store chat subject/title in other property called "Topic". It's available only through REST API.
This prevents admins from being able to perform eDiscovery against specific chat threads.
I love this feature, but wish that anyone in the channel could add/update the subject of a conversation--but only the creator of the conversation can do this. It would be great to be able to allow for anyone to add a subject--especially if you have a few really good superusers who are keeping everything organized for the group.

YES, Please make Subject more obvious ---- like you do in Outlook. If we type a message in Outlook, Outlook asks us before it sends, if we are sure we dont want to add a Subject. The compose box needs to be expanded automatically in both channels and in chat!! PLEASE!

this is already available in skype. when we click on a person in an email, skype automatically adds the chat subject to the IM. so we need the same feature in teams too
No, you don't have that. The suggested subject line thing does not work. The Chat in the left of the Teams UI shows only the last chat message, and the subject is always on the first line. So, the subject is lost to view almost immediately and the list of chats on the left are wholly without context. If you're going to tell me to search the chats for various phrases, again, that is a miss because people remember what a chat is about not what was specifically said.
Still can't figure it out. I end up creating fake meetings with the correct subject and invitees. Then start a chat, and cancel the meeting.
It would be fantastic if the "Subject" line could be obvious. It would really reduce the new number of conversations that people start on accident because they think they're replying to another topic...but really, they're starting a new discussion.

Could you maybe make this feature more obvious? I have discovered this feature just by accident today and I think it is quite useful.
being able to filter by just a chat subject would be helpful
It would be HELPFUL if the SUBJECT would be what is visible to identify SAVED chats. OR... being able to ADD a subject to saved chats. We are in a call center and agents want to save important notices but then can't find them to save their lives because it is a jumble of garbage.

After using Teams for a few weeks, I just found this feature. However, if it results in multiple user suggestions, it's (obviously) not apparent enough to be useful for most users.
In addition, it would be nice if giving the same subject to multple conversations in a channel (which happens ALL THE TIME) would cause them to combine into a single thread!
It would be nice if it was possible to name a chat with a single other participant - seems to only be possible to name a chat with a group of others, if I understand correctly?
- I often have long running conversation with the same person and it would be nice to be able to start a new conversation thread with them with a topic title.
Unless the feature is missing in our version of Teams, you cannot add a subject to a new or old message, outside of a 'Team' or channel. Please add this capability to simplify tracking of chat threads.
I was able to go back and edit my post to add a subject line, but am adding my vote to include a mandatory setting.
It's silly that we have to teach each individual in the organization how to do it properly (ripe for user error) vs. just making the field automatically available.

I agree with the below commentators, an organization needs the ability to make a subject mandatory in a given channel, additionally subjects need to be able to be added after a conversation has been started.
Yes adding a subject to the conversation is available when you actively wanted to start one with it. How about being able to add after a conversation has been started? It would be nice feature to add so an user can modify or add a subject to a thread so we can search and organize better.
