Teams uses 600MB and is super slow!
Quotes from various users about memory usage and slow performance:
"Team is a memory hog! 100s MB! Slack is about 50."
"The memory consumption is over 300MB!!! This should be a priority."
"Just started evaluating teams, 500+ MB and 10-15% CPU. This is in a citrix VDI. Does teams use hardware rendering? If so is there a way to turn it off? I had to do this with the rest of Office."
"I dont understand why my Teams application only uses 70MB when other people in my organization are towards half a gig! What is causing this Teams?"
"Make it less CPU heavy, 20% CPU on switch tabs? Really?"
"See attached picture."
Great performance and user experience remain a topmost priority for us. Application launch time has seen improvements in the recent build. We will continue making improvements across the product including channel to chat switching and overall resource consumption.

403 MB for me , no one conversaton opened. is a joke for a chat application

Getting worse by the day, perhaps as more people are using Teams with the end of Skype for Business? Makes teams nearly unusable for chat which is what we need.
MS Teams is using 750MB of RAM and slows down my computer horribly. PLEASE FIX THIS.

With the covid19 lockdown and subsequent 100% teleworking, I've meanwhile been using plenty of similar videoconferencing tools (webex, zoom, jitsi, google meet, gotomeeting, skype...), and Teams is BY FAR the worst experience of all: it just burns resources (cpu and memory) at the point that all other apps get close to unusable when a Teams VC is active. On top a very badly designed UI, creating more confusion than solutions. It is high time that Microsoft does something serious about this ****** piece of software. It continues now for months to be a real pain in the neck to use that thing, and even worse if one is trying to use it on a macbook pro. An unbelievable disgrace for a company that claims to set the scene in office related softwares !!! (SO happy to still have a webex subscription whenever I can choose myself the tool to be used for a meeting...)
I agree completely. Teams resource footprint continues to grow. The below snapshot is what it looks like on my MS Surface Microsoft Teams Version 1.3.00.13565 (64-bit). It was last updated on 6/3/20. At the time of the screenshot, I am not running any meetings and do not have any chat windows popped out. Teams is just on per usual.
It's been four years for this request with no work done.
Why am I paying for monthly per user teams subscription for the hundreds of users at my company?
Why am I paying for support?
Seems that a #MSTeamsMemoryHog campaign is needed.
Team is a memory high! 500MB!

I have the same issue many are reporting here. Teams memory usage is unreasonably high, and the entire thing is super laggy. Switching between chats is laggy. Loading photos take forever. How can something that's supposed to prioritise such simple comms-like functionality be so bloated and slow?
I quit Teams six hours ago and there are still seven instances of it running using 460MB of memory. This is crazy.

My work Teams uses over 1GB of RAM (Maximum of 1204MB). After clearing the cached files etc as suggested by Microsoft, I have found that 10 minutes later the RAM usage is back to 1GB.
This needs to come down. Or at least allow the user to delete old chats from it so that this can help free up the RAM.
This is also having an effect on the CPU and ends up using about 30%-50% of the CPU.
Do you really think Teams can replace Skype for business when its doing this? Dream on!

Memory hog (Always +600MB), Images rarely load properly, Interface is so laggy pretty much all the time. All these together make it such a horrible user experience.
Teams is such a cumbersome laggy mess while Slack is so quick and easy to use.
Come on Microsoft you can do much better than this.

Crashes constantly and sometimes I can't finish my presentations!

1.5GB in use today. Yeah, that's not right...
570MB Memory consumption 43% CPU claimed.... unbelievable. Doing what?
Please let us know about plans making the tool more accurate not using so many system resources at all!
Hi Alex & MS Team... Do we have latest update on this request?
Teams would be a lot better if it were a UWP. Just as the Windows 10 Mail and Calendar app performs so much better than the Outlook app, Teams could easily (albeit with some work) be a native Windows 10 app instead of the currently extremely clunky Electron app.
Respect the platforms you're building for. Stuffing a web browser into a package and calling it an app isn't exactly doing that.

Team using 1GB + memory and killing performance. The mouse barely moving. I have a latest DELL with top configuration (16GB RAM, MvNe drive , 16 core etc ..) , but it also giving up.

Instead of seeing performance improvements, we're experiencing a worst UX release after release. I love Teams, I love all new features, but I hate being unable to use them because client is so SLOW! (MBPro 16'' with i9 and 32GB of RAM)
I've mentioned this in our corporate IT steering committee that no fix from Microsoft on this critical issue has been made in four years.
We are evaluating alternative software.
Started using Citrix desktop today and promptly killed all MS Teams processes and saved 500 MB memory. I explained it to the IT guy and he said the Citrix machine was always overloaded since they rolled out Teams.
