Teams uses 600MB and is super slow!
Quotes from various users about memory usage and slow performance:
"Team is a memory hog! 100s MB! Slack is about 50."
"The memory consumption is over 300MB!!! This should be a priority."
"Just started evaluating teams, 500+ MB and 10-15% CPU. This is in a citrix VDI. Does teams use hardware rendering? If so is there a way to turn it off? I had to do this with the rest of Office."
"I dont understand why my Teams application only uses 70MB when other people in my organization are towards half a gig! What is causing this Teams?"
"Make it less CPU heavy, 20% CPU on switch tabs? Really?"
"See attached picture."
Great performance and user experience remain a topmost priority for us. Application launch time has seen improvements in the recent build. We will continue making improvements across the product including channel to chat switching and overall resource consumption.

Teams shows up as having active process memory leaks on every Webroot scan of my computer. So does explorer.exe. I also have CPU surges randomly where my laptop slows to a snails pace. Glad to know it is being worked on.
@Alex Admin, is it possible to have an update on the work done by Microsoft on this suggestion that so many people need to see improvements?
Come on MS i am sitting idle and Teams is using 1,252MB. Seriously!
Version 1.3.00.15561 is consuming 707MB of ram while doinig nothing. imagine during a large meeting

I voted and was about to post a picture of my usage but there are so many examples already that I won't even bother.
Also, you are making it very difficult to try to convince persons that a laptop with 8GB Memory, a SSD Hard Drive, and an Intel i5 processor is quite sufficient for office use. How do I not support my team that says they need 16GB of memory to run Teams and Microsoft 365??
Electron is no excuse for this amount of memory usage. Discord and Visual Studio Code use Electron and both consume way less memory.

Hello Alex the Admin! Does MSFT have a product that does not brick computers but still ahs a chat function? If not is there another one you recommend? We want to uninstall Teams and replace it. It is bricking computers we bought last year. I'm sure I don't have to impress upon you the finanacial burden that new computers can put on a small business when a recession is looming.
Thanks in advance!

absolute joke.. Given the world is shifting / shifted to WFH and Teams being a major player in corporate environments, this should be a high priority. See attached example of over 1GIG at idle.
Yes restarted, resintalled, cleared cache etc etc.

Idles at around 600MB on this laptop. I have a customer running teams on his terminal server and with 8 users logged in at the same time the memory usage on a server that only has 16GB is unacceptable. With Skype being decom'ed this needs to be fixed.

My teams executable is using 720MB of RAM, that's way too high! Please do something to let Teams to use less memory.
only for a chat Teams is using up to 1 GB from my RAM - please reduce it. This is a major problem.
Parameters of my PC:
Intel Core i5
8 GB RAM

I basically can't use the Teams anymore and I need it for work every day. Teams takes up so much memory that my brand new Surface freezes completely.
Teams is an electron app, its minimum RAM usage is also based on the max available RAM on the system it's running on.
Hopefully Teams does migrate to newer versions of Electron though, Slack had a huge improvement by doing so.
My performance is mostly all right, but I am probably running among the higher hardware specs than most with both machines being 6C/12T and 32GB RAM, but it seems to "only" be consuming 600MB of RAM for about 15 active people (small company).
Teams is the most resource intensive app on my PC, and it basically does chat and meetings where I am.
Even Microsoft Edge and my other chat app combined don’t use this much RAM!
Please consider looking into this. I know a native app may not be what the team is looking into but at least make the Electron app better.
I just had a meeting with 20+ people and it makes my computer so slow! If I want to unmute myself it can take up to 10 seconds! My CPU is at 50% and I still have some RAM left so it is not a computer problem. In Zoom, I can switch between chat and video in a second, mute and unmute myself in a second as well, I can share my screen without my computer becoming super slow. Please fix this! It feels like I have a 10 year old computer with Teams.

Teams is a dog. Uses too much memory and a pig. How do the competitors do so much more with less resources? It is killing our VDI environment. Teams and Chrome almost eat 2GBof RAM.
Sometimes, it uses as much as 1200 Mb of memory.. I hate the app but still have to for the online classes.
When sharing video, CPU constantly around 20-25% for Teams.exe. This is on Dell 5310, latest chipset.
Would be great to be able clean up Chat History and such. I think this would help as well. but, yea. its getting slow even with the newest hardware.
