Teams uses 600MB and is super slow!
Quotes from various users about memory usage and slow performance:
"Team is a memory hog! 100s MB! Slack is about 50."
"The memory consumption is over 300MB!!! This should be a priority."
"Just started evaluating teams, 500+ MB and 10-15% CPU. This is in a citrix VDI. Does teams use hardware rendering? If so is there a way to turn it off? I had to do this with the rest of Office."
"I dont understand why my Teams application only uses 70MB when other people in my organization are towards half a gig! What is causing this Teams?"
"Make it less CPU heavy, 20% CPU on switch tabs? Really?"
"See attached picture."
Great performance and user experience remain a topmost priority for us. Application launch time has seen improvements in the recent build. We will continue making improvements across the product including channel to chat switching and overall resource consumption.

Same here, Teams is using too much resources and our employees are complaining about their computer slowing down. Maybe have options to reduce the number of features and reduce the power usage
Really has started to become a crucial issue when you start to see upwards of 800-900MB of RAM being locked up by a single application that has to be on so others can reach you.
Might as well throw my ticket onto the heap. 646MB of RAM is ridiculous. What's going on in there?! This is clearly a pressing issue. Feels like MS' stranglehold on the industry means we're not getting any urgency in getting a usable product.
Any updates on this?
It seems strange not to give any updates for more than nine months on an issue which is "...a topmost priority for..." you.
The reliance of Microsoft Teams as a means for collaboration and calls have increased dramatically. The heavy system resources usage of Teams during video calls and screen share is really a big challenge.
Can the teams at Microsoft look into this issue and identify a solution at the earliest? There are so many feedbacks / inputs all over the internet on this Teams memory usage issue, not sure why Microsoft is taking so much time to look into this issue resolution.
complete waste of cpu and memory. you obviously haven't been working on it.

yes. it works perfectly on my Old LEnovo i7, 8GB Ram , but not on new HP I3

MS Teams hogging almost 500MB memory and slows down every other app. sometimes start up itself back out other apps.
Update the status of this issue affecting millions of users and wasting tens of thousands of hours for those users before end of 2020.
The excessive memory usage is costing Microsoft customers millions of dollars in extra costs through lower productivity.
The memory issue is not on the "product roadmap for Teams" list of in progress, soon to launch and already launched features.
Teams is currently taking up > 1GB memory, without any meetings, calls or chats in progress. Sloppy use of resources

My computer (most expensive Surface Book 3 Business with 32GB RAM) comes to a grinding halt when in Teams meetings with more than 3 people.
On my part my organization is still experiencing latency, is it possible to see let's say the test that Microsoft do and see the progression?
4 years later since the first working on it comment from Microsoft (March 10, 2017) and no significant reduction in memory usage.
Stop lying about this issue being worked on.
A 0.001 percent reduction in memory usage is not an improvement.
Guess that we will see a replacement product before Teams has memory consumption fixed.
In my MacBook Pro, Teams was the only app running, yet that annoying fan noise came and it was loud. I could barely use anything. They said that performance is a "top priority" for us. YET THEY HAVEN'T FIXED ANYTHING! You basically need a computer with a i7 and 16GB ram for it to function properly.
I've got the same issue. Memory usage goes to 100% utilization and system becomes unusable even causing network connections to drop. I tried to clean up as suggest on: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_o365admin-mso_teams-mso_o365b/teams-hogging-memory-running-slowly/3a5ddd1a-e4b0-41be-881d-c0d46b9abe23. Also tried to remove it and reinstall but same issue reoccurs. This issue started after I changed my Domain account password.
I've solved this by removing the teams application and I'm currently using it via an Internet browser and Office 365.
It's nice to see that no progress has been made on this issue at all over the last 4 years, in fact it's just gotten worse and worse.
Opened Teams after a restart. No files open. 950MB RAM usage.
Windows 10 Enterprise. Would prefer memory usage to be addressed before any visible functionality enhancements. Thanks!
7 people in a video call
--> 40% CPU + 25% GPU + 390 MB RAM

Teams is a performance disaster. You should completely rewrite it using some lighter framework. Even hovering the mouse over a chat makes the CPU increase load by 40%!!!
It's basically a bloated, badly optimized, web application running in some browser-like container.
Guys that is an epic failure, since our organization chose Teams as the primary collaboraiton tool a few months ago, everyone in our company suddenly started thinking their pCs where too slow. Each meeting is a list of complaints "sorry I can't switch to the presentation, it's too slow" or even voice/video quality issues because CPUs at 100% just can't do the basic coding/encoding.
Throw it in the bin and rewrite it entirely. Admit it's a failure please.
It's November now and I am still having the problems. Great performance and user experience doesn't seem to be that high up on the list.
