Hide, Archive, and Delete chat threads!
Teams is way to cluttered when you have several chats. It is difficult to see new messages when they come in. I like a very clean and simple tool and if you could manage options that let you delete threads and also that would let you choose to clear all activity and history upon closing the App that would be great. As it is I have a bunch on inactive threads that are always in the activity list and they are old and not active any longer. Other than this I really like the UI and the functions of the Teams App just want to be able to clear all the junk when I want to.
Additional clarification as to what was fixed in this feature request.
This request is done except for Delete Private chat. Delete Private Chat is still Under Review and therefore will be pulled into its own topic; no decision has been made to yet if this will be done or not.
What is complete are the following:
1. Delete your own messages anywhere in Teams.
2. Team Owners can choose if users can edit/delete in their tenant as well as choose if admins have the power to delete any message posted in public channels.
3. The ability to hide your private chat threads (these are not the chat threads in channels, but the private chat threads that appear when you click the Chat icon on the left-side app bar).
4. The ability to mute your private chat threads. (these are not the chat threads in channels, but the private chat threads that appear when you click the Chat icon on the left-side app bar).
I have opened a new suggestion that targets just the ability to Delete Private Chat threads. If you want this feature, please go to this new topic and vote it up!

Microsoft, time to address this one. It is a priority
this blog shows how to delete chat messages, but I don't see the options it mentions. https://support.office.com/en-US/article/Frequently-asked-questions-about-Microsoft-Teams-%E2%80%93-Admin-Help-05cbe533-2181-4e95-a4b0-52cd7695fafc

Microsoft - are you really listening to this feedback? - its been 5 months since this specific feature was proposed and not even a response.....

How is this not a feature yet?
Yes please. From poorly-considered posts to typos, there are a lot of cases where we might want to delete a post (or edit it!). Please add this feature!

Please implement soon. My company needs to be able to delete old chat groups
Am recommending that my company does not use this system as, rather than promoting collaboration it is creating greater levels of frustration and confusion - from the labyrinthine processes to sort our permissions to the inability to delete or archive chats. Product release appears to be of greater importance that product quality.
Utterly ridiculous that this doesn't come as standard.Presumably product testing is still part of the development cycle?

I wish I could like this twice! Please! I have 100 chats open and it's impossible to find them. This is an Option in HipChat and would love to see it in Teams.

I appreciate if there can be some controls over the chatting features! One of my users have accidentally posted his social security number in one of the private chats that included 50-ish people, and I can't delete his message as it passed the 24 hours moderation period. I don't understand why even an admin does not have the privileges to moderate it in any way.
Still impossible -- yes - how is this not a thing? -- many employees wish this feature.
Also individual notifications on Teams.
yes - how is this not a thing?

Rather than delete, I would prefer to "Archive" old conversation, so that you have to do a search (with or without archived conversations) to find them. Archived conversations should also be possible to "ressurect".
A lot of my customers simply want to be able to remove older chat history. The ability for the owners to delete is a must have.

We rolled out Teams to our all Mac shop today, and by far the most asked question was "How do I get rid of old conversations" They really like it, but in an office of several hundred 1 on 1 chats stack up quickly and it's just visual clutter for most people here. Please add the option when clicking on a persons 1 on 1 (Or group) chat options to have "Close this conversion" below "Favorite".
I would love to have the option of deleting old, unwanted chats or certain messages from a particular conversation. It's really surprising that we are not able to do this.
Clicking on the 3 dots only brings up Favorites, no matter if I am in the app or web version.
Really need this feature! I was setting up some test teams/channels and it puts up stuff like a conversation has started, or I did a test conversation with someone and there is no way for me to remove it now that we are done. I'm the owner of the team and can't even remove it.
This is also important so as the owner I can moderate the chat and remove sensitive, inappropriate, or erroneous posts. Also as the poster, I should be able to remove my own comments.
Agree with all of these comments. I only see one guy who is fine with all of the old messages, but it's driving me nuts. I only want to see the messages that I still need to monitor, and I will save what I need from the rest. Please add this option.
