Hide, Archive, and Delete chat threads!
Teams is way to cluttered when you have several chats. It is difficult to see new messages when they come in. I like a very clean and simple tool and if you could manage options that let you delete threads and also that would let you choose to clear all activity and history upon closing the App that would be great. As it is I have a bunch on inactive threads that are always in the activity list and they are old and not active any longer. Other than this I really like the UI and the functions of the Teams App just want to be able to clear all the junk when I want to.
Additional clarification as to what was fixed in this feature request.
This request is done except for Delete Private chat. Delete Private Chat is still Under Review and therefore will be pulled into its own topic; no decision has been made to yet if this will be done or not.
What is complete are the following:
1. Delete your own messages anywhere in Teams.
2. Team Owners can choose if users can edit/delete in their tenant as well as choose if admins have the power to delete any message posted in public channels.
3. The ability to hide your private chat threads (these are not the chat threads in channels, but the private chat threads that appear when you click the Chat icon on the left-side app bar).
4. The ability to mute your private chat threads. (these are not the chat threads in channels, but the private chat threads that appear when you click the Chat icon on the left-side app bar).
I have opened a new suggestion that targets just the ability to Delete Private Chat threads. If you want this feature, please go to this new topic and vote it up!

Can someone from Microsoft please confirm if GUEST ability to delete/edit for comments is in development and if so it's ETA? Cannot proceed with Teams until this is in place.
Would be helpful to be able to delete chats from left-hand side of UI while keeping the history available.

Right-click Team > Manage Team > Settings > Member permissions >
delete and edit options must be enabled.
Not an option for Guest permissions (so far)
Can't promote Teams until I can have Admin rights over content. Someone can post something inappropriate and I can't take it down...it's a no go till this happens.
I have noticed that Leave has been implemented for Group Chats at that the Feedback item is closed for comment...so I am commenting here. The leave for group chat works when you create a group chat via the chat option. If, however, you create a Teams "meeting" and then it auto-magically creates a group chat that remains around as a remnant after the meeting is over...there is no mechanism to leave from that group chat mechanism.
I hope hide/delete will work for all use cases...whether group chat, individual chat, meeting chat remnant, or other.

Boa tarde. Seria muito importante que o Teams tivesse a opção de excluir os chats. Assim, organizamos melhor as conversas e eliminamos assuntos que já foram resolvidos.
Team Owners can choose if as well as choose if admins have the power to delete any message posted in public channels.
It shouldn't be Team Owners making this choice, it should be Admins.
Thank you for the update but it appears that edit/delete is not available for Guests. I am currently a guest on a Microsoft Team site and still cannot edit or delete.
Again, as a Microsoft Partner my clients will be GUESTS in my firm's Teams environment and as such they need to be able to control their own posts. Is this coming and if so, when?
Hey guys, check the previous admin posts to see all the different variations of deleting that is possible. Please note that your administrator can block your ability to delete!
As a Microsoft Partner trying to promote Teams and Office 365 to my clients it is most frustrating that there has not been an update from Microsoft on this since Sept. 20th. My clients are holding off until delete or archive for chat is available for all levels of users.
Suphatra (or anyone at Microsoft) the end of Oct is now approaching...can we have an update on ETA please??
Delete or archive conversation should be available for every chat conversation for every level of users.
The ability to delete or archive a chat conversation seems like pretty basic requirements. Such oversight should have never been allowed to release with proper testings.
why can't I delete chat, are we not subject to make mistakes, it looks so unprofessional when you can retract or delete a post.

Why it is documented https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Delete-a-conversation-thread-in-your-class-team-37de4346-a08c-4f05-b24d-fcb9914a57b0 how to delete threads when it is not possible?

Can't delete threads in a channel. Esspecially as Admin I want to be able to delete webhook messages coming from bots.

I cannot delete individual chats with other colleagues or empty group chats so, if there is the option is very little intuitive and if it's not it's way necessary.
Suphatra can you please comment on whether or not Guests will be allowed to edit/delete their own comments or threads and if so when this will be available?

Suphatra, is there any way to put a status on teams (I am not an admin) saying I am working remotely for example instead of just Active?
Please allow ALL users including guests to delete or edit their OWN comments. I just posted something by mistake in a chat thread containing a typo and cannot delete or edit. Most embarrassing and frustrating.
Let us known once its out.. please

This seems like such an essential feature to have missing from the app, why wasn't it included in earlier builds?
