Hide, Archive, and Delete chat threads!
Teams is way to cluttered when you have several chats. It is difficult to see new messages when they come in. I like a very clean and simple tool and if you could manage options that let you delete threads and also that would let you choose to clear all activity and history upon closing the App that would be great. As it is I have a bunch on inactive threads that are always in the activity list and they are old and not active any longer. Other than this I really like the UI and the functions of the Teams App just want to be able to clear all the junk when I want to.
Thanks!

Additional clarification as to what was fixed in this feature request.
This request is done except for Delete Private chat. Delete Private Chat is still Under Review and therefore will be pulled into its own topic; no decision has been made to yet if this will be done or not.
What is complete are the following:
1. Delete your own messages anywhere in Teams.
2. Team Owners can choose if users can edit/delete in their tenant as well as choose if admins have the power to delete any message posted in public channels.
3. The ability to hide your private chat threads (these are not the chat threads in channels, but the private chat threads that appear when you click the Chat icon on the left-side app bar).
4. The ability to mute your private chat threads. (these are not the chat threads in channels, but the private chat threads that appear when you click the Chat icon on the left-side app bar).
I have opened a new suggestion that targets just the ability to Delete Private Chat threads. If you want this feature, please go to this new topic and vote it up!

I'm curious what situation you have that's generating so many chat threads (a much larger team than mine, perhaps?). In any event, active chat threads automatically bubble to the top of the list, and you can mark threads as favorites to keep them persistent. Having a scroll bar of existing threads doesn't really bother me, and deleting it would remove the search-every-conversation functionality I liked so much from Slack.
As a side note, not really sure why your request had to end with an attack? Teams isn't actually released until March 14, so you're participating in the public beta that you seem to want, and the responsiveness to feedback on this product is better than anything I've seen in a long time, imo.

Our legal team would like us to be in compliance with our data retention policy. Currently I'm not able to do that with Teams. In order to do that we need to be able to have messages auto-delete after a period of time. i.e. 2 years/ 6 years. We would love to have the ability to set that period of time across our tenant. It would be nice to have it at the team level as well, but not able to supersede the tenant period.

I failed to find this in the UX and it seems that it's actually a feature, great job Microsoft!

We have a requirement from one internal customer to allow channels to have date deleted that is older than 4 weeks. This feature is available on Lync Persistent Chat and want the capability in Teams.

It would be nice to have a way to minimize conversations that have been complete. Possibly if someone adds to it later it could bring down the minimized conversation and if you want you can click it to maximize it and view the new addition. Sort of like Reddit. After speaking in one conversation it takes up too much room in the chat and there is no way to shrink the space it takes.

It is not possible to delete old chat threads, therefore the application quickly becomes clustered with old chat threads.
I am suprised that Microsoft did not made it possible in the first place because it is a feature that should obviously be there.
Do you guys have your products tested by actual end users before you release them, or just by other Microsoft engineers? -

Is this available anytime soon? We want to give our channel owners right to clean unwanted conversations from their channels. Due to confusing UI, lot of users end up creating a conversation as opposed to just replying to a thread.

Agreed. Sometimes business requirements discussions / asks change, and it's good to get rid of the old ones to avoid confusion.

This would be great.

This would be useful, at least for channel owners so they can clear up conversations that are no longer relevant (or were maybe a little too casual or off-topic)

Agreed, need the option to delete a conversation beyond the 24 hour limit. Could live with Admin privilege only.

I concur with all of these. Being able to delete comments as an admin seems very basic to me and should be a standard functionality.

Similar experience here.
We've spun up an instance of Teams, created a team for the organisation, tested messaging and connectors and now we cannot remove the trace of this history from General or other activity from channels created.
Team owners should be able to manage the visibility of messages and activity traces for things like description changes etc.

The channel owner should be able to delete posts: errors, obsoletes, tests... This is really needed to make it useful!

At now, it's imposible to delete a conversation on Microsoft Teams

It would be great to have an opportunity to clear the chat history with a person.

Please also allow owners to delete posts from others.

One on one and group chats (not Teams) cannot be closed. Please provide the ability to close a chat once it is completed.

After a comment is posted and sits for a time you can no longer comeback and remove it. While testing we posted emoticons' and test messages that scroll a page now there they are how do you get rid of them?
