Recreate deleted channel
Deleted channels cannot be recreated. They are visible in ShaerPoint, but cannot be recreated or restored in Teams.
The restore the deleted channel is available. Here is the release note snip.
Restore a deleted channel
You’re now able to restore any channel you deleted up to 21 days after taking action (click Manage team then open the Channels tab to get started). Anyone can do this by default, but there’s a team setting that restricts restoring and deleting channels to team owners only.
Since the restore channel is available I will flag this one completed.
However, we are still working on the issue with SharePoint folder names not being synced after deleting or renaming. The UV topic tracking the SharePoint issue can be found at https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16927219-re-using-the-same-channel-name

Seriously, this just broke all the channels I had been building in a sandbox, and then renamed, only to find the files areas not renamed so I figured I'd delete channels and recreate. Whooops, nope you can't do that. So now what?
It's difficult to believe Microsoft released without this -basic- and -fundamental- ability. Come on, we've had "rename" "delete" "undo" around for decades and it's the one thing that should have been consistent moving into Teams. Now I have to come up with all new channel names that probably won't make nearly as much sense, and then remember to -never- try to rename them, and heaven forbid I want to delete one and then re-use the name for a new channel.
Honestly this is ridiculous to still be an issue, especially with the amount of time it has been known and complained about. If M really wanted to showcase an continuous delivery development model, this would have been fixed months ago.
What's the holdup Microsoft?
I'd like this fixed this afternoon so it doesn't become a huge waste of my time, which it already has in trying to figure out why none of it works as it should right now.
No way to undelete or recuperate the underlying history. No way to reuse the channel names either. This is bad as, by default, everyone has rights to delete channels and mistakes do happen. One of our programmer mistook the delete channel for the "remove from favourites" option... result.. 4 channels missing and no way to recover them
Ran into this issue, needs to be fixed ASAP!
Any updates on this request?
Thanks for the workaround, but it won't work for deleted channels.

Workaround: Rename the channel before you delete it. Of course you need to know about this workaround before you delete the channel - but it seems that it's the last channel name is the one that you can not recreate - you can recreate the channel using its older name(s).
This is an important feature. Is there timing on this?
there was a glitch and recovering the error message for morning plz send the solution
No brainer this one, do it!
Yeah, this is really annoying and we'd like to see this fixed.

Same here, now I have to explain this to my team.

I would never release this in my company.... it simply does not work.
Please fix asap. Does anyone know of a workaround?
This has caused significant issues for my work group - please fix
This is definitely a frustrating one. I was testing out features and now I can't get my channel name back...

Yep, I tried removing the folders in sharepoint for the channel but it still couldn't be created.
Maybe not ideal, but if you create a 'new' channel and give it a name the same as a folder in your SharePoint Documents library for that team, the channel will take on that folder for its 'files' tab.
IMHO it is a bug that when you change the channel name its associated SP folder stays with the old name and if you change the SP folder name to the new channel name it all breaks!
this is a showstopper for us!
This bug has now caused be some issues for me. Like others on here I've been testing Teams functionality to assess how our first adopters of the O365 platform might want to use it. I deleted the original channels I set up basically because of the lack of metadata capability through Teams. Now I can't recreate the channels to demonstrate the options without using different channel names!

This would be a make-or-break in terms of me getting buy-in for my coworkers to use this platform. Please fix.

We've been using Teams a week and already ran into this bug.
