Recreate deleted channel
Deleted channels cannot be recreated. They are visible in ShaerPoint, but cannot be recreated or restored in Teams.
The restore the deleted channel is available. Here is the release note snip.
Restore a deleted channel
You’re now able to restore any channel you deleted up to 21 days after taking action (click Manage team then open the Channels tab to get started). Anyone can do this by default, but there’s a team setting that restricts restoring and deleting channels to team owners only.
Since the restore channel is available I will flag this one completed.
However, we are still working on the issue with SharePoint folder names not being synced after deleting or renaming. The UV topic tracking the SharePoint issue can be found at https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16927219-re-using-the-same-channel-name

Any update on this topic? Is a fix for a proper channel deletion or the recreation of deleted channels "near"?

big request from our users, need this one
To add to my comment, I'm speaking specifically to having deleted a channel and not being able to restore or create a channel with the same name
Any update on this? Huge issue...

Requesting update on this.
Any updates on this? Kind of 2 separate issues / questions...
1. Ability to restore a deleted channel specifically
2. Ability to reuse a channel name after it has been deleted
Are either of these features on a roadmap?
A user deleted a channel in an attempt to leave it, now it can't be recovered? Pretty rough. Her privileges are "member", not "owner". If a member can delete a channel, an owner should be able to restore it.
It is extremely important to have the data restore capability of Microsoft Teams. We just hit a case in which our users accidentally deleted a Teams channel and Microsoft have no way to perform the restore. I don't think any Enterprise can accept a service component under Office 365 subscription without a proper data backup/restore mechanism, definitely it is one of the major issue Microsoft have to take priority, otherwise Enterprise should not extend the Teams usage, very danger and no data recovery guarantee to users.

Just researching Teams for our company and "If someone deletes a channel can we restore it?" was one of the many questions on my list. Glad I checked it out. Definitely a feature that will improve Teams so it gets my vote
I'm adding my voice to those who can't believe that channels can't be restored and there's apparently no documented way to permanently delete them.

@Admin, are you reviewing this for channels as well or is there a different item I should vote for? It sounds like most of the votes here are for restoring deleted channels not teams.
Just ran into this issue. A user mistakenly deleted an existing channel, and now we can neither recreate the channel nor recover the deleted channel. We need a way to recover from this situation without contacting support.
@Josh C Can you provide more information re: your comment from June 6? I've been attempting to get to a point of restoring a channel and when I run the cmdlets from your post, I get errors and info about NuGet. If I'm interpreting it correctly, it looks like I need to be running Visual Studio as well? Any assistance would be appreciated! Microsoft, can this be made more accessible?

We need this fixed ASAP!

I don't know if adding a comment to the pile will help, but in case it brings 2 cents then I'll vote for it as well. And as all the other users have written already, this is not a feature request, this is clearly a bug !
A Teams channel creates a folder on a SharePoint site. While we can delete a folder, rename it, delete it and recreate it without any problem, doing so within a Team is not possible?
Clear design flaw which is really dramatic for the business!
Please add an option to recover a deleted channel!!!

Agree, needs to be fixed asap. How did this product ever go live with such basic bugs?!

Same issue here. Would really like something so essential fixed.

A Teams channel is managed by Groups permissions. If you look at your groups in Admin Center portal you will see the groups associated to the teams channel. When a Team channel is deleted the group SharePoint is actually not deleted, you just loose permissions to because the group is deleted.
I was able to recover a deleted team channel by running commands from PowerShell "install-module azureADpreview" which give you access to the new Azure command-lets. The command-let I ran to view the deleted groups in Azure was "Get-AzureADMSDeletedGroup" this displays the deleted groups with the associated ID.
To restore the deleted group I ran the following command "Restore-AzureADMSDeletedDirectoryObject –Id (using the ID string from the previous command)".
Doing this will restore your permissions to the associated SharePoint group page and the group will reappear in Teams.
I am assuming there are associated command to force delete the group from azure as well so the name can be reused Teams.

Need this, deleted a channel because I couldn't figure out how to disable an associated connector. Now I can't re-create the channel with the same name. Seriously has this product been tested for usability?
