Let me @ Mention the user's first name instead of their DisplayName
Hi,
When mentioning someone with @, is it possible to use the user alias instead of the Display Name? In Slack for example, it is possible to choose whether to display the full name or the user name when being mentioned. Could be great to have it on MS Teams because it is shorter in messages where many mentions are provided.

This was submitted over a year ago. Can we get this done already, please? I want to be able to @ my teammates via first name, and have their chats show as their first name first.
Thank you!

Yes, this is already doable, but it should be the default (or configurable) and not an extra keystroke!

Can we restrict importing user title from AD in Teams? Management level user does not want their title to appear the Teams profile.

I'd like this feature please as our business is active directory name format is:
`last, first [contract company]`It is too difficult to change active directory due to the size or our company.
Even if we could set the nick name in our personal contact list but it displays for the recipients also?

I use this a lot:
"Your company can set active directory display names to be firstname lastname. @name will then be in first-last order. If you then hit backspace once when mentioning a preson @name will just be their first name. Our company just dd that and it works great for everyone. And names in Outlook are now first-last too."However, I would like a way to associate a more familiar nickname or Alias and use that spelling in place of the @mention instead, both to set a default for my own profile for others to use and to be able to set it for my personal user for other users to allow for a less formal personal address. For example:
James might go by Jim or (maybe he goes by his middle name 'Andy'), Gregory as Greg, Michael as Mike, Elizabeth as Liz, Zachary as Zach or Zack, William as Will or Bill, Thomas as Tom, etc.

Just another person adding to the chorus. Allow me the ability to display/identify myself as I choose, not as Microsoft wants.

Shift+Tab or alike with a shortcut would be enough. Additional feature without manipulating current function.

This could be solved by creating Organisation wide Team Tags
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/manage-tagsI've created a new idea for this

If you backspace on the surname it deletes. Works great if your company names are not surname, first name...

This would be so nice! All users in our org are Lastname,Firstname,Location,Department which can be quite long so would save a lot of wasted space to just show their first name or first and last name.

Give the user an option to set his own alias / nickname. (used in @mentions)
Feature request: 3.5 years old and a year under review. Not even sure why i post here.

Some names are very long and it's so techie to have @last,first cluttering up conversations. Please add the ability for individuals to create aliases.
