Add option to have non-threaded channels
I'd like the capability when I add a new channel to make it non-threaded. Threaded conversations are great for some channel topics, but other more casual channels get too cluttered with multiple threads. I'd prefer to have the flexibility to decide which format I want when I create the channel.
This request is still being considered by the feature team but a final decision has not yet been made. I’m still awaiting more details.
Can you please add a channel level access for teams users, i'm having a team of 40 people and they are further divided into development, BA, etc for same project so is it possible to give them channel level access for a Team
Or drop the feature entirely and go non-threaded. Take hints from Slack and Discord, i.e use quotes and if a topic becomes frequent/regular, start a new channel for that topic.
The current UX as a whole feels forced rather than enabling. It's nice to try something new, but maybe start with what's already been well established in other platforms and work from there please MS...
FYI, spoke to a Teams expert (from Microsoft) at MS Ignite and he agreed this would be a good idea to be able to enable or disable threading in channels. Really hoping this can happen soon, this is the one thing that is holding us back from going company wide with Teams, and away from Slack.

This is hindering our ability to switch over to MS Teams. Once threads can be disabled we will.

How many years does it take to *review* an item. The threaded model is terrible, no one knows how to use it. Some people reply to the thread, others start a new conversation. Then the convo gets out of order and you can't understand who is replying to what. Surely, you see this in you own Teams. Yes, user training *should* be able to address this, but it doesn't. There is always those few that just don't seemed to be able to or care enough to keep things tidy. This one feature makes me hate Teams. If it weren't forced on me by my company I would never use it. And everyone I've talked to feels the same.

Please allow option to make disable threads or change the default from threaded conversation to non-threaded, but still allow for them. The view is not compact enough and threads hog up the space. They are also annoying because people do not always reply to a thread and then a thread auto collapses. The UI is pretty terrible. Most of the time one single conversation is fine, but the option to add a thread would be great.
Definitely needed! The current implementation causes much confusion with my team, especially having come from Slack!

Please, for the love of god, let me disable this terrible feature. It serves no purpose whatsoever other than to scramble conversations and confuse people who haven't been trained on how to handle a chat program that behaves different than literally any other chat program. Right now I'm trying to do damage control because my client doesn't understand the threads and makes a new thread every time, which means it pushes information up and out of sight and then our team misses it.
Not only is this feature useless, it is actively damaging to our business. How in the world did you not immediately fire the first person who suggested "lets make a chat tool that doesn't provide information in chronological order"...

Please provide this. I feel angry when I have to expand long discussion threads over and over when jumping between channels. I feel like I"m wasting my time. Non-threaded channels would help with this.
Threads are garbage. Please make a *per-user* option to turn it off. Not just on the channel.

One more plea - I use Teams as a user community for internal apps. During a recent launch, I used a chat with about 40 users, and we had deep, productive communication taking place. It was great! When I made the app available to more users and had to switch from a chat to a team, conversation completely stopped due to the confusion and space inefficiency of the threads.
Please allow us to turn this off.
My customers are getting crazy about that.
I'm trying to onboard people from using Skype / WhatsApp Telegram - none understand what is it and why using it.
Seriously, I'm losing clients and it takes months to onboard people because of this w very strange UX decision.
I'm adding to this the fact you actually *can't* quote or replay to another message. Probably because of that same strange UX decision... You can't tell people who use WhatsApp or FB Messanger or Skype or Telegram they don't know what is best for them - Common!
Teams is not Facebook and people don't see it as the news feed - if anyone would like something like that we already have Sharepoint....
need this to help compete with slack!
Any update on this? Seems like a very simple ask, and would allow the flexibility a team may want on certain channels.

Just give us the option to toggle it off per channel, no one I have talked to actually _likes_ the threading of conversations, and our Dev team is actively refusing to move over from Slack because of it. We use Channels to designate topics, we don't need separate threads inside of that.
