Backup, export, printing, archive options
Can Teams chat and activities data be exported, printed, archived, and backed up/restored? Within Sharepoint or elsewhere? This could be necessary for a few reasons both during projects and for historical records.
This item is still under review. No new updates at this time.

A bulk export from teams is essential for this to be a viable tool for collaboration. Given the difficulty for extracting conversations, right now it's a toy, not a serious application.
It's unusable for audit tracking because of this missing feature.

We had to switch to a different teams account, and so we are going to lose all of our data. It would have been nice to at least locally download all of the conversations, so if we remember talking about it in teams we could look it up. It would have been perfect to be able to migrate the data to our new teams channels.

Yes, this would also be helpful for migrations! Currently, there appears to be no way to move chat and call history over to a new tenant when migrating users between tenants. The Teams themselves can be moved, but not the one-to-one chats, calls, meetings.
A simple basic feature that should be available to all users who have requirements to save important conversations.
Typical Microsoft uselessness and arrogance. "WE REFUSE TO MODIFY THIS PRODUCT IN THE WAY THAT WOULD MAKE IT MOST USEFUL TO YOU."
This is must for us - is there an app within Teams that can accomplish this?

As part of the compliance process this feature (export/archive options) is necessary as well as recording ideas and discussions which can be later recalled.

We need to be able to use this collaboration software to... collaborate, which often includes sharing ideas and thoughts via chat. Being able to export these conversations would be very useful. Also, why does the share tray not record? If you're sharing a presentation with people not in the same physical location and passing the presenter, it won't record your presentation unless you're sharing your screen- which means everyone would have to have their own version of the slides queued up when switching screen. So weird. This is collaboration software, right?
Missing this feature we are not able to deeper install Teams in our business :-( We would love to !

We realy need this feature!

Ability to "save a hard copy" of a conversation is essential. In most cases it needs to be possible to save it in a sharepoint file with the accompanying work.
Agree tht this could be as some kind of "export to OneNote" option, but it needs to be uneditable to serve as a record of the conversation.
This would be nice to just even be able to save into txt files. It's not like we're asking for a new feature that hasn't been developed yet. This feature was available on skype for business called chat history. Not sure why Microsoft teams isn't following through with feature from their old system. This feeling I have about microsoft is like going backward in technology rather then forward. This is why no one upgrades because of things like these.

saving as mhtml (text and pictures, no files, no videos) would be nice
Can we please have updates on this item. Migrating Teams to other Teams has become a vital need in our organization.
Educational Leader commented
Being able to export Teams chat is critical in accountability and documentation.
It is crucial for trackability and documentation. If backup of activities and chats remains unavailable, the usefulness of Teams will be seriously compromised.
Please allow export. Crucial
Still under review? This is incredibly helpful for groups and projects, but a hard-copy of discussions, notes and conversations is still necessary for many projects to succeed
I you expect us to use teams in company environment it qould be very usefull to have the ability to archive complete chats

現在提供されている compliance search の機能では、チャット ログを PST 形式でエクスポートし、Outlook クライアントで閲覧することができるが、これを Teams クライアント側に再度取り込むことができない制限がある。
Currently provided compliance search functionality allows you to export chat logs in PST format and view them in the Outlook client, but there is a limitation that this can not be recaptured on the Teams client side.
In preparation for data loss in the data center, we strongly hope to have the ability to output the chat log as a backup as well as the ability to restore the backup.
