Backup, export, printing, archive options
Can Teams chat and activities data be exported, printed, archived, and backed up/restored? Within Sharepoint or elsewhere? This could be necessary for a few reasons both during projects and for historical records.
This item is still under review. No new updates at this time.
Chat is replacing Email and Emails are business relevant and need to be kept for legal reasons. Chat groups or channel discussions are used in collaboration and might contain evidence for a business case.
we require this

This seems to have been under review for quite some time. This also seems to be quite a critical feature for many people and organisations, including ours.
Export Chat History is a must!

We use Teams for engineering review meetings between teams in global offices (Europe, North America, Asia). Its excellent alternative to inconvenient conference calls spanning time zones and eliminates the requirement for minutes. However, business policies regarding records and archiving is not neatly fulfilled with Teams, as Teams and channels cannot be offloaded. When scaled over time, this will leave a cluttered interface. Archiving or exporting is a critical requirement, not only for business requirements but for best practice housekeeping.

I could live with copying a chat conversation and pasting into email or another document, but I seem to be unable to select all (Ctrl+a).
If I select the first message and Shift+End to select all of the text, Ctrl+c to copy, pasting it shows a mess and doesn't seem to include all that was selected.

Considering the gaping maw that is search in Teams, the ability to download conversations for review/analysis outside of the application is critical.

I need this in my life, I also don't understand why Google Hangouts allows you to have these features, and Teams doesn't. I really like Teams over Hangouts.
This item really needs to be prioritised. Many organisations require the ability to export conversations for legal reasons (discovery, etc) and not having this can be a real deal-breaker. We have to tell the people in our org to make sure anything important is in email. So Teams is just relegated to a tool for inane chatter and cat memes.
Is there an ETA for this feature to be ready? Archiving Conversations is an important feature and has been requested by customers. Please update on ETA or options on how one can download all the chat history. thanks.
Yes, It would be nice feature to have. Team Chat - conversation can be exported to a file..
I hope backup/export of teams will be available soon...
For any commercial project to be run on teams, it is likely that Chat will contain statements that need to be captured for legal purposes. Chats therefore need to be possible to save as pdfs (and other predictable formats), ideally with selection dates from/to because a project of a couple of years could have an enormus chat log that could be usefully broken down/archived into more manageable files.

Allow streaming to a file of timestamped <joined conversation>, <left conversation>, and messages sent.
This would permit local scripts to validate a quorum, register an instant vote, identify lurkers & conversation hogs,
as well as mitigating the risk of always having an active connection to access conversation log.
Teams falls way behind in value compared to the simplest chat client that easily supports this absolutely essential feature.

Is this still under review? It's a must to have this feature!

Make Conversations exportable as Email!
Then all the Backup can be done through the means of the Email Path.
It´s very important to have a means to export Conversations, because of legal requirements.
Before Teams, Users would work in SharePoint and Communicate by Mail.
Backup of a Project could be done by an Backup of the Sitecollection and the Communication during the Project by exporting to an PST File and/or by Server Backup of the users Mailbox.
We had means to get to the Data after the project ended officially.
With a hard limit of 500.000 Teams in a Tenant, companies must make sure not to reach this limit soon, this is why unused Teams need to be deleted. Data (Documents) can be exportet and backed up somewhere else, but the communication during a project will currently be deleted. This will surly pose an issue when a reference to a communication thread and/or decision is needed somewhat later.
So please make an export/forward to Email for an conversation Thread possible.
Printing option has been asked a lot, too, by my users.
I am also looking for a way to archive the content of my team. I can copy the files, but would like to be able to copy the planner data and conversations so they are stored in file explorer and removed from teams.

How do you vote for this enhancement? We would like the ability to print or save all are parts of Conversations

So we've been "Reviewing" this requirement for 3 years. When exactly does the reviewing stop and the programming start? This should not be complicated.
How many votes are required to get this approved for development? I would be happy with a simple excel export.....come on...you're Microsoft for Pete's sake! LOL! :) Let's start a petition!
