Skype integration (Consumer Federation)
It would be nice to integrate public Skype (not Skype for Business) into Teams. I am able to chat with Skype for business users within my organization but when working with external clients I still have to go back to public Skype. If I could even just simply chat and call with Skype users as well that would allow me to use Teams as my sole communication platform.
Please check “Teams/Skype Consumer chat and calling interop” on the public roadmap at microsoft.com/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters.. for updates.

I'm another person that really needs the ability to chat with Skype Consumer users from Teams. Otherwise my business will never move to away from SfB.

This is an importan feature for our organization!
If we can communicate with our partners and clients through Teams we need to still use Teams and Skype for Business and the transition to the new tool will never be possible! Please Rethink it! This is an important feature on S4B
This is a critical feature for my business.
We are a recruitment company with most of our communications to people outside of our business - we frequently conduct interviews and chat over consumer Skype and as a result all our employees are signed into consumer skype. I had hoped to migrate them to MS Teams for external and internal comms. as it is we will have to continue to use both which has issues for privacy, compliance and for employees taking company data that exists in their personal accounts and reduces the chances that MS Teams becomes the destination of choice for all messaging.
Please un-decline and get this feature included ASAP.
Why declined? As it was available in Skype for Business, I don't see what could prevent this to work in Teams.

Can't migrate my organization from Skype for Business to Teams until this is available.
Agree with the vast majority of recent comments, Microsoft needs to enable chat with Skype Consumer directly from Teams in order to prevent users from exploring alternate streaming message systems such as Slack. At this point in my company I am getting a lot of pressure to switch to Slack strictly because of the ease with which external users can be invited to take part in a controlled way on both DM's and persistent channels (Teams equivalent of Chats and Teams). If the Teams roadmap is truly going to decline this feature then I think I will have no choice but to migrate my org to Slack and then shut off Teams. What a shame.

This issue is a major roadblock for our migration from S4B to Teams. Microsoft you own Skype, seriously what is the issue here? You are making more money than ever from your SAS pricing and you seem to take pride in the fact that you are updating your software at a ridiculously fast rate ( cosmetic and obfuscation the order of the day) yet here is a real benefit for your paying customers but you can only see the cost benefit from your accountants view point. Yeah we can use free Skype to communicate with these other people but this same philosophy applies to most of your other software as well yet we choose to use Microsoft because it is integrated and progressive, however it may appear you don't value this metric in your customers?

Microsoft needs to listen to the feedback it is getting here. This might not have that many votes, however it is a critical feature many have depended on with S4B. Removing it will cripple any ability to move to Teams fully.
Yes, as Markus commented, if you can't call Skype contacts (like you can from Skype for Business) how can MS fold Skype for Business into Teams? We'll have to continue using two clients, or possibly three so that we can call everyone..
We have used Skype for Business and communicated with 'regular' Skype users - this functionality should be added to Teams too. My users won't use teams and use personal Skype account which defeats the purpose.

This is crazy. I didn't notice that our organization had been scheduled to upgrade to Teams until it was too late. Now, we cannot contact our external clients who use regular Skype. This was a horrible upgrade and now we are scrambling to set-up regular Skype accounts for all our employees and contacting our external clients so we can continue business. We won't use Teams at all until Microsoft integrates Video Chat with regular Skype users.

I really want my organisation to switch completely to Microsoft Teams but since we still need to use Skype to contact other Skype users outside the organisation uptake of MS Teams is very slow and rendering a really well made product unusable.

It would be helpful to understand the logic for declining this request. We regularly chat with external users who are using public / consumer Skype. If this decision is not changed, we will have to continue using Skype for Business and Teams in parallel… which is both annoying and very inefficient! Can someone from Microsoft please review this decision ASAP?

Declining this is like selling someone an iPhone and telling them they can only call other iPhones. Please make this a feature, otherwise the theme of Teams being a hub that interfaces with other systems will be tough to defend.
The fact that this is no longer going forward combined with the forced migration from Skype for Business to Teams is absolutely frustrating. At minimum you should have finished getting video conferencing added across both Edge and Chrome and preferably Safari before forcing people into Teams.
This will absolutely kill our interview process and we will probably have to start looking elsewhere for a internal/external communications solution.
I can't even chat with SfB users from teams. This needs to be fixed ASAP

very bad I have a new customer with more than 3000 seats wants to roll back to SFB because of this feature they using it heavily to communicate between staff and their families as office 365 is the online allowed app in the work environment and also HR run interviews candidate over their skype !!!

Please, please, please.. Add the option to contact regular Skype user from teams. Skype for business is already replaced with Microsoft teams and I want to use teams as my one-stop-client for messaging. So this only makes sense and makes my life a lot easier...
