Skype integration (Consumer Federation)
It would be nice to integrate public Skype (not Skype for Business) into Teams. I am able to chat with Skype for business users within my organization but when working with external clients I still have to go back to public Skype. If I could even just simply chat and call with Skype users as well that would allow me to use Teams as my sole communication platform.
Integration with Skype Consumer is no longer under review, and officially planned.
Request an implementation that can easily change the display name of consumer Skype on the client.

Hi, is there a release date for this?
I'm not sure if the link is already in the comments, but I found this FR through this link:
Unable to chat from my Skype for business to other (normal) Skype user.
Kindly suggest and do the needful ASAP otherwise no use for us.
Yay! Good news that this is being develop. It can't come soon enough if teams is to be used in our org.
i believe MS is replacing "Skype for business" with "Teams". Hence, yes it will be great to add chat with public skype memebers from Teams. As i have tested and found i am unable to add or chat with public skype ids from teams.

When will this feature be available?
Teams and Skype Consumer Interop. Interop between Teams and Skype Consumer will allow users on the two services to communicate using both chat and calling. Teams and Skype Consumer Interop will be available in Teams in the first quarter of calendar year 2020.
Any update @microsoft
Hello, as many others before, I need to know WHEN it is planned to get this important "feature" running.
It would be essential for a migration to TEAMS to be able to chat/communicate with SKYPE for consumer users. Not only Skype for Business users, but all Skype users. Our customers use Skype, and we can't migrate to TEAMS and loose touch with them.
as many others have noted, all our outside clients use consumer Skype. Until there is the ability to make those calls, we can't roll this out to the company either.
Integrated Skype and Teams to remove the limit of public external communication. Make life easy than.
planned for when? We also have the issue of HR needing to perform interviews with users on consumer Skype
Please let us know when this is planned for. We're trying to get users on board with Teams but are really limping along here.
They are dragging their heels on this, very suprising ......But do they not just want ALL non enterprise users now to switch Teams (Free)!!!
Conducting remote interviews is now a nightmare because our organisation transitioned to MS Teams.
