Skype integration (Consumer Federation)
It would be nice to integrate public Skype (not Skype for Business) into Teams. I am able to chat with Skype for business users within my organization but when working with external clients I still have to go back to public Skype. If I could even just simply chat and call with Skype users as well that would allow me to use Teams as my sole communication platform.
Admins can now enable their tenant to allow Teams users to chat with and call Skype users by using their email address and vice versa.

Communication between Consumer Skype and Teams is a very important feature that has to be implemented in Teams before Skype for Business is faded out.

Since Teams phone system does not support SMS, at least provide consumers, i.e. customers, an option to use Skype to 'text' us.

Hi, is there a release date for this?
I'm not sure if the link is already in the comments, but I found this FR through this link:
Unable to chat from my Skype for business to other (normal) Skype user.
Kindly suggest and do the needful ASAP otherwise no use for us.
Yay! Good news that this is being develop. It can't come soon enough if teams is to be used in our org.
i believe MS is replacing "Skype for business" with "Teams". Hence, yes it will be great to add chat with public skype memebers from Teams. As i have tested and found i am unable to add or chat with public skype ids from teams.
Most of started using Skype (not skype for business) and over the years have built contacts. Migrating these contacts into Teams would not only help us to have the same contacts into our Teams account, but also propagate widespread use of Teams (as those who do not have an account will receive an invite once we migrate them from Skype to Teams)

When will this feature be available?
Teams and Skype Consumer Interop. Interop between Teams and Skype Consumer will allow users on the two services to communicate using both chat and calling. Teams and Skype Consumer Interop will be available in Teams in the first quarter of calendar year 2020.
Any update @microsoft
Hello, as many others before, I need to know WHEN it is planned to get this important "feature" running.
