More status options, custom status, and Out of Office
I like the status options in S4B, and so does my boss. It will be important to my boss before accepting the use of MS Teams widely to have a broader range of statuses. Missing statuses are:
* In a meeting
* In a conference call
* In a call
* Be right back
* Off Work
Particularly of importance are "Be right back" and "off work". "Do not disturb" is probably sufficient for "in a meeting", "in a call" and "presenting". But, it sure is nice that S4B auto-detects those three statuses (for the most part).
Would like to create a custom status option, such as an out-of-office message.
Thank you for your feedback! We are happy to share that this ask has been completed. To see the list of presence statuses that are currently available, please visit https://docs.microsoft.com//MicrosoftTeams/presence-admins

Another teacher here- we really need the ability to automate DND settings so that meetings and lessons are automatically set. You shouldn't have Teams Calls interrupting a meeting or lesson.
You also shouldn't expect staff to manually set DND at the beginning and turn it off again at the end of a lesson. Far more likely that they are going to set it to DND permanently which means the Teams Calls function just becomes an expensive answerphone.
Agree. Custom and allow adjustment of RAGs. In jabber, I am allowed to be appear always available regardless of what is in my calendar or how many minutes I have been away. I would like more control over this feature as the OP described.

Let us create custom status like ' Be right Back ' ' On a coffee break' .... why is Microsoft and Skype so old School!!!

please add, thanks
Manual override should always take precedence over automatic settings. There are unforeseen circumstances that a developer has never thought of and would not have to spend their time or resources coming back to if they allow manual settings to take over for those unforeseen circumstances. (like being on a day long "meeting" with teammates in order to communicate quickly but needing to be available so customers reach out like normal. The team meeting is there to provide fast support/response, it's not there to take all my attention [currently it constantly resets to Busy/Do Not Disturb after about 10mins no matter how many times i manually set it to available]). This is a huge pain point for me.
I agree that it will be great to the following statuses, please.
* In a conference call
* In a call

I agree with everyone on here. At the current time, this is so important. Being able to setup a lunch time meeting with a custom message will make such a difference. Also thanks for such a fantastic product, it’s transformed so many peoples working lives and enables them to be productive.

Hi, I'm one of those college teachers suddenly using Teams, trying to go from 0-60 all at once. So I'm sure my wishlist idea has already been brought up, but: It seems there is no way to set my availability status as a regular schedule. I want to show virtual office hours, a Do Not Disturb status on weekends, etc. to my students. And I'd like to set this up as a recurring schedule, so it changes automatically at the appropriate times. Being new to all this, I can never remember to do it manually (which I shouldn't have to, since my schedule is the same every week).
And if there IS already a way to do this, would someone please tell me!! Thank you.
With the global pandemic, this has become a necessity. There needs to be custom options that each organization can set. With so many working from home, it's important to know who is working at the office (available - office) or from home (available - remote) in real time.
Come on Microsoft.
it's time to get this feature implemented
@Suphatra @Warren - As you can see on the votes and comments, it's realy required by many many Users/Admins. @Suphatra posted that internaly, so it's available in a way.
BUT c'mon, its now 3 years ago!
You want that the people switch vom S4B to Teams - so please bring that feature!
Also it would be ultra nice if the status can be changed by Powershell!!!
Thanks in advance, and i hope it will not take 3 years more..
Out off office needs to be sync'ed with Outlook exchange. This needs to be priortised! Thankyou!

Agree with everyone else. This really needs addressed ASAP, especially given COVID-19. Admin needs the ability to customize the status options in the drop down.
It's a very important requirement. Give us option to add our own. Our manager (monitors) and colleagues will ping us based on our status only.
Also add, like "Coffee/Tea break", "Lunch break" and "In the online session" I could be using any software (team viewer, webex).
This will really help us. Please consider this. For you experts adding/giving an option to customize the status should be a left ********.
Why still backlogged after 1 1/2 years?

I think this has all been done.
Any updates as to when this will be back on the "Working on it" again?
Geez it was requested in 2016 and now we are in 2020. Other collab tools that didn't have custom statuses have already implemented in shorter time or even new callab tools have been created since 2016 with those features.
If you fix and add custom statuses by user AND HIDE that CONTROL BAR when on a share screen you all will be ROCKSTARS for us all.
UGH! Love me some TEAMS but those things are the 2 thorns in my side as they are for many other users. I just use Zoom for now.
When you have a phone system next to teams, it needs to show not disturb. Or when you are not working (day off), it needs to show you offline eventhough you use your device for personal use...
How can this be so long overdue? This should be bumped up with COVID-19 and the numbers of remote workers

As others have said, we need the ability to change status to working out of office. Beyond that, it doesn't seem like it would be that hard to just give admins the ability to create custom status options so each organization can create what works for them. Please implement ASAP
