More status options, custom status, and Out of Office
I like the status options in S4B, and so does my boss. It will be important to my boss before accepting the use of MS Teams widely to have a broader range of statuses. Missing statuses are:
* In a meeting
* In a conference call
* In a call
* Be right back
* Off Work
Particularly of importance are "Be right back" and "off work". "Do not disturb" is probably sufficient for "in a meeting", "in a call" and "presenting". But, it sure is nice that S4B auto-detects those three statuses (for the most part).
Would like to create a custom status option, such as an out-of-office message.
This request is still queued within our backlog. No new details yet.

Definitely still need "off work" (still missing even though it was in S4B), and "working remotely" would be nice to have as well (as others have said, this is more important now with so many people working from home).
Also the ability to add a custom status (possibly w/ a short custom message/description) would be great to cover scenarios that don't fit any of the built-in statuses.
What is the status of this request? Originally made almost 4 years ago, with the latest admin response 2 years ago and almost 5K votes... another update would be appreciated.
Finally I will throw one more idea out there (or add my vote to anyone who has suggested it already) - the ability to integrate with Outlook working hours to automatically change "available" to "off work" at the end of working hours for the day. Maybe have this as an option the user can turn on/off in their settings. Then if the user still wants to show as available after hours they can set the "available" status manually (if its just once in a while) or disable the feature altogether (if they never want working hours to switch their status). Once the user is no longer available, other statuses would kick in like normal (e.g. they lock their machine and it switches to "away", etc.). That would be great for people who are still online past work hours for one reason or another (e.g. working late on urgent tasks, doing additional research on their own time, etc.) to let others know that they aren't really "available", so they don't get pinged with additional requests after hours that should be sent through other channels (since that tends to happen if people still see them online)...

A real usefull option would to be able to add our own Costum status to the existing list that each on will use more often so we don't need to use pregen msg from microsoft.
-Select the status icon
-Write the status
-Write the message
in a call would be extremely helpful. not that they respected it all the time in skype but some folks did. LOL.
any move up the backlog from 2 years ago?
Let's see. Originally posted 4 years ago. A backlog note 2 years ago. Come on MS. Fix it already
In addition to this, I would like to have the ability to post the Time on the computer I'm logged into. Or I guess more generically, allow custom Properties that could be created locally and automatically or manually populated and be used in the Status message. I work with employees all over the world and it would be helpful if we could mandate across the company that the users update their status with something like "The current local time is @System.Time and I am logged into my @Properties.DeviceName" and it would display like "The current local time is 08:46:52 and I am logged into my iPhone". Where the @System would reference some System/Environment variables and @Properties would reference the custom Properties list (that doesn't actually exist yet).
def needed. I have staff moving around on different sites. simple apps like in/out allow me to make a selection of status options.... really surprised office does not yet have this basic feature. I have to pay $18pp per month just to get this app - sigh
At a minimum, the ability to manually flag as working from home or 'not working' should have been resolved months or years ago.
Additional functions that are needed:
- set my regular working pattern (e.g. at work Mon, Tues, Thurs, WFH on Wed & Fri (unless I manually override on any given day)
- Teams Tab with easy to see at a glance table listing members and their status (including WFH, on break, on leave) like the good old fashioned office whiteboard listing names and whether in or not.
Better yet - store a list of our custom messages ( to select from(
needs to include a setting that allows users to adjust the 'away' timeout length, similar to Skype for Business.....including an option to never automatically change to away.
We also need to be able to set-up the time when our status messages changes to Inactive. Teams will set you to inactive if you do not have any activity on your screen after 5 minutes and I noticed it changed my status to Away while I was listening to our company's livestream.

Add status "stepping away/returned" as a status while in a team's meeting so you don't have to interrupt the meeting to let people know you're stepping away and you have returned
Please bring back Off Work that we used to have on Skype for business.

Distinguishing internal from external would also be useful. For example, I may not want customers knowing that I am off or unavailable.
- Only available for Important Issues

cause covid-19, if it possible to had '' Working remotely'' this is the new trend now.
I would like to see that
This is very much needed. Why so long on the backlog?
It would be useful to have more options now- including 'Working From Home' (essential at the moment), and 'On Leave'. It would be most efficient to create your own, work patterns vary so much.
What does 'Be right back' mean anyway? And 'Available' implies any interruption is OK. 'Appear away' is the same label as 'Be right back' they should be different so you can see at a glance.
I think the status should be more easily visible. It is not apparent that someone is asking "do not disturb" or "away" unless you hover over their photo. I think if you open the chat for someone away or requests do not disturb, I think there should be a very apparent notification of the person's status.
Agreed, also I'd like and option where i can set my mobile status to default to "Off Work" or "Offline", so i can ghost without being seen, as when I'm truly off work I don't want a status that makes my merely seem away. There should also be an option where "Off Work" status could be set along with a Quiet Hours schedule.
