More status options, custom status, and Out of Office
I like the status options in S4B, and so does my boss. It will be important to my boss before accepting the use of MS Teams widely to have a broader range of statuses. Missing statuses are:
* In a meeting
* In a conference call
* In a call
* Be right back
* Off Work
Particularly of importance are "Be right back" and "off work". "Do not disturb" is probably sufficient for "in a meeting", "in a call" and "presenting". But, it sure is nice that S4B auto-detects those three statuses (for the most part).
Would like to create a custom status option, such as an out-of-office message.

It would be great if we could have a setting so that when he have Shifts set up and you clock into a shift, the shift name becomes your default status.
Given the current COVID-19 world and the high occurrence of working from home, why is the status between Outlook and MS Teams not yet solved? I don't want to have to update my status in multiple places. Just from my calendar which updates everything else.
Absolutely agree that the curren list of statuses is rather restrictive. Perhaps each organisation should be able to set it's own set within the Teams Admin area.
Also, I find it very frustrating that I can set a timeout on status messages, but not on the status itself. If I know I'm not going to be availbale for a few days or hours why can't I set the Away or Offiline status and have it expire after a set time? The status is the one bit of information people can easily see at a glance so it's important that this should be able to accurately relfect what we are doing not what Teams thinks we are doing based on very little data.

Till such time Microsoft releases an update with this requested changes is there any workaround wherein we can manually make this custom presence status changes in the registry like how we can do it for Lync/skype for business.
I would like to also include the ability to set out of office calls for my regular day off. Since I'm on a 9/80 schedule which means I get every other Friday off and it would be nice to have it alerted every other Friday and allow for an off button when I have to do overtime on the Friday I am off.

In context of remote work, we need more custom presence options. Having the ability to mix presence and location - Working from home, In the office, At lunch, Taking a break, Custom presence. Better understanding of timeout. How to respect others flexible work schedules through presence and status.

Yes, having a Working from Home status would be great along with "On Break" or as others have said "At lunch" would be helpful. With the last update being 2018, that's a quite old status. Surely Microsoft can update us in 2020.
any update on this one. see @warren has responded almost 2yrs back, but still this option ismissing

I don't believe MICROSOFT is really reviewing these.. MIRCRSOFT has buttons they use Like : "Working on it" ," Under Review" "Backlog" almost the same buttons we've been asking for "be right back" , "at lunch" " in meeting" etc..

I'd love to see a Working from Home status option.
Should hook into working hours too - as more and more flexibility exists in the workplace it would be good to hide status to others outside their personal working hours
Very basic functionality we used to have in Jabber.. what's keeping you Microsoft?
Why so complicated Just add an custom option where you can write your own OoO message
In this days it is especially important in our company to know who is working remotely and who is in the office. So status working in office, working remote (in home office) would be very helpful
I would like to have blank status circle to add 3 letters , for example WFH, or WIO ... etc. to present my work location each day, office, home or field.
Any update on the “Off-work” status-
Out-of-Office becomes a more formal on-holiday/will-not-reply status which hints that important msgs might go unnoticed.
This “off-work” would be more like an accurate informal disconnect status & would be a great value add in this corona age that actually helps you punch-out/log-off while remote working while indicating you pick up any critical items if needed.
"In a call", "Presenting" and "In a meeting" are already statuses in Teams. Your presence automatically switches to these 3 statuses if you're in a call, presenting, or in a meeting. I do not see this being an issue.
For "off work", if you turn on Out of Office, you status in Teams changes to 'Out of office'. Also for custom status, you can already set a status message to say whatever you want. I use Out of Office and a custom status to let my team know I am out of the office, with a short description of my return date.

Definitely still need "off work" (still missing even though it was in S4B), and "working remotely" would be nice to have as well (as others have said, this is more important now with so many people working from home).
Also the ability to add a custom status (possibly w/ a short custom message/description) would be great to cover scenarios that don't fit any of the built-in statuses.
What is the status of this request? Originally made almost 4 years ago, with the latest admin response 2 years ago and almost 5K votes... another update would be appreciated.
Finally I will throw one more idea out there (or add my vote to anyone who has suggested it already) - the ability to integrate with Outlook working hours to automatically change "available" to "off work" at the end of working hours for the day. Maybe have this as an option the user can turn on/off in their settings. Then if the user still wants to show as available after hours they can set the "available" status manually (if its just once in a while) or disable the feature altogether (if they never want working hours to switch their status). Once the user is no longer available, other statuses would kick in like normal (e.g. they lock their machine and it switches to "away", etc.). That would be great for people who are still online past work hours for one reason or another (e.g. working late on urgent tasks, doing additional research on their own time, etc.) to let others know that they aren't really "available", so they don't get pinged with additional requests after hours that should be sent through other channels (since that tends to happen if people still see them online)...

A real usefull option would to be able to add our own Costum status to the existing list that each on will use more often so we don't need to use pregen msg from microsoft.
