More status options, custom status, and Out of Office
I like the status options in S4B, and so does my boss. It will be important to my boss before accepting the use of MS Teams widely to have a broader range of statuses. Missing statuses are:
* In a meeting
* In a conference call
* In a call
* Be right back
* Off Work
Particularly of importance are "Be right back" and "off work". "Do not disturb" is probably sufficient for "in a meeting", "in a call" and "presenting". But, it sure is nice that S4B auto-detects those three statuses (for the most part).
Would like to create a custom status option, such as an out-of-office message.

I'd love to have it customizable so I can send a notification to whoever writes to me to use e-mail or slack, since I'm not interested in using Teams ...

We need a clear place to put custom statuses. Our team has used them for working hours (see above for appreciated times) for a global team to know when to expect someone back to the conversation.
We use this extensively in Lync / SfB / Slack (cough - https://get.slack.help/hc/en-us/articles/201864558-Set-your-Slack-status-and-availability) and without the ability for power users to set custom status clearly and tersely - we'll have issues with adoption of this tool on mature teams that work remotely and across shifts.
This doesn't just involve the UI changes needed for me to enter the status, but also a way to consume it across teams in a visually pleasing and compact manner.

Absolutely agree, this has my vote!

I keep disturbing people on annual leave. we definitely need a place for people to stick in status texts.

Yes and should sync from outlook
In chat, when a user has an out-of-office message in Outlook, it would be great if Teams would display that message any time the user with the OOO message is a recipient so senders know that the person to whom they are sending the message is out.

Slack recently introduced the ability to have custom status messages.

I agree, need some custom status text, like in Skype, so people can see that I'm on vacation, for example.
Yes! I really need establish an 'out of office' presence when I'm out of office. I just got back in town and a chat from a VP sat there for days. Had he emailed me, he would have gotten my Outlook auto message.

As others have mentioned, of particular interest is the ability to add custom text like in Skype for Business. In Skype for Business, you can also set your location independent of your status. This is great if you want to use location to show you're working from home and the text status to say something else.
more important to me is that status is synced and visible to all other users in a reliable way.
And that teams respect and remains the status previously set by the user. (and will not change automatically).
I would prefer possibility to optionaly add a status text manually, to clarify more on the status and to inform when to come back, etc.
Currently, working with user-status is a mess, it's not working consistently in teams-app v1.0.00.19451 (win7-x64)
Thanks and regards,

Here is an idea from one of our Teams power users....
".when putting someone in a thread using the @ symbol....it would be nice if it integrated with your out of office in Outlook....changing the color or noting via a bubble message that the user was out of office. I was including someone in a conversation, wondering why they were not engaged, and came to find out they were OoO for a few days."

The idle time for Teams should not be based on your Teams activity but your computer activity. Or let it be a custom thing. Its very very obnoxious that my phone is constantly getting Teams notifications when I'm sitting right here at my workstation.

Should show the same away or vacation message as Skype for Business

Would be great for this to be integrated with Calendar - so that way your out of office (Away) + outlook out of office is reflected in teams. A Skype-esk thought would be useful to clarify what I'm up to / insight as to why I'm busy.
Include emojis as part of the status customization (like slack)
A custom status would be nice. If not, add 'working remotely' as an option.

I would like to add a comment to a Status. For example, when changing my status to "Away" I want to add the comment, "Be back in 5m." And of course this comment would appear on other Team member's dash.
Would love to have this feature, can easily let others know what I'm doing or which issue I'm dealing with right now just by putting it in status field.

Let me write a funny meme about my current status in team
