More status options, custom status, and Out of Office
MORE STATUS
I like the status options in S4B, and so does my boss. It will be important to my boss before accepting the use of MS Teams widely to have a broader range of statuses. Missing statuses are:
* In a meeting
* In a conference call
* In a call
* Presenting
* Be right back
* Off Work
Particularly of importance are "Be right back" and "off work". "Do not disturb" is probably sufficient for "in a meeting", "in a call" and "presenting". But, it sure is nice that S4B auto-detects those three statuses (for the most part).
CUSTOM STATUS
Would like to create a custom status option, such as an out-of-office message.

In Skype for Business there are 3 yellow statuses to choose from (Be Right Back, Off Work, Away) but in Teams only one (Away). Can we have parity please?

I completely agree - I'm a remote employee and that status shows my boss a lot more than I'm online. That alone will keep me using Jabber. I'm sad to see this was suggested in October of 2017 and hasn't been changed.

I don't use SFB so don't know how out of office works as a status. But I agree with comments below that ideally it will pull and send the Outlook out of office auto-reply in Teams. It's all connected, right? Would be ideal for someone to simply set their auto-reply in Outlook and be done. Thanks for considering this request!

Nice, hope to get this soon. Please just copy the features from S4B, they work very well so there is no need to add e.g. admin restrictions or similar.

Plus people need to be patient and polite, not saying "Hurry up" which is really unprofessional.

Warren that's great news - except the part where the custom note has to be managed by Administrators. I can see them getting fed up with requests from across the company as specific situations arise that require a new custom away status.

We have multiple locations so it would be good if we could create custom statuses so we can include the location where we are working (ex. Available @ Main).

we need this custom status feature badly, since many of our employees are travelling frequently and we intend to use in order to show the current location of an user. please, hurry up with the release of this. :)

In Skype we could set custom company wide status such as "Be Right Back" which was great and more descriptive than Away. I hope the ability to add new status descriptions and timers becomes available in Teams. It's ok that Skype is being replaced but sacrificing features doesn't make sense to me.

it is like how it was on Skype, if some sat his auto reply to be something like "I am not around at the moment, coming back at 10:00 PM", then if will be good that this message appears to any one trying to contact this person on team messaging.

We are now rolling out Teams company-wide, and the Out of Office response is desperately needed, but it really needs to pull directly from Outlook rather than being set separately.
Can we get an update on this please?

Out of office status should carry over from outlook. I’m on vacation right now and as messages keep coming in, I feel it necessary to respond. How are people to know I’m out of office? Would be nice for them to know before they message me as well as once they message me (should be added to the conversation thread). Doesn’t need to be elaborate or distracting but maybe something like Bob is out of office until November 20th. Additionally would be nice if that setting carries over to the app where notifications won’t come through on mobile, without me having to change settings myself. Maybe it asks when u set OOO: do you want to turn off mobile notifications until Nov 20th?

Being informed that person (mentioned in channel or directly messaged)
- is on vacation / out of office / off work
- is in the meeting (presenting => automatically in do not disturb mode)
is very important, because otherwise you have no clue why person is not answering.Please inform when this feature will be out..

Please hurry up- out of office etc. is a must. Better would be to integrate flexible answer option like in Outlook- OoO message.

I wish Teams integrated with Office, and imported the Automatic Replies (Out of Office)
Often we will ping team members on teams, and we don't know they're out of the office. -

The status settings should allow a user to customize their status settings. For example, if a user wants to tell others they are "in training", not just Away/Busy/DND

I would like to see custom activity messages as well. I am all over the place and so are others in our company. It would be nice if we could customize so my people know I'm available, but somewhere else or an alternative contact method in MS Teams. Thanks.
