Integration for Microsoft Project
Enable integration with Microsoft Project to see a project timeline, work breakdown, schedule, and dependencies. Additionally, teams could provide notifications to members about dates in the project.
The team is still reviewing this item. I hope to know of a decision soon.
Hey Microsoft, in this blog post (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2019/10/29/new-microsoft-project-rolls-out-worldwide/) you show Project integrated in Teams. However, I have not found a way to do that. What to do?
This needs to happen now!
It doesn't make sense that you offer better integration with third-party PM tools than you do with your own products. We would like to use Teams as a base camp for most of our projects, but there's not a lot of value until it integrates with Project Online / PWA / Project for the web.
Embedding websites in Teams isn't a possible workaround in organizations using Conditional Access.
How is this still "Under Review" when it should have been "Out-of-the-box"?
Yes, definitely a requirement. When tasks are completed in planner we'd like to see that the project plan in project is updated automatically. Vice versa, when tasks are added in project, the resource should be automatically created in teams.
yes please!!! my company uses project to do project level schedules but has difficulty integrating that to the rest of the company with the exception of pdf schedules. This would help significantly!!
We had to ditch Microsoft Project for all but fringe projects due to the delay in getting it integrated with Teams. We use Hive and it's a great solution, but would have been nice to be able to avoid going to market when we already had Project Online licenses.
It would be great to get confirmation from Microsoft that this is in the pipeline or if they're going to decide not to integrate with Teams (which would be a poor strategic decision IMO).
FYI Project for The Web was recently launched, so seems like no integration will get done between the original MS Project and Teams. You can embed Project for the web as a website into a Teams channel.
Project for the Web is lacking a lot of functionality, so essentially unusable for anything but the most basic of projects, but hopefully Microsoft will be putting some development resources into it to get it up to a usable state.
It's been more than a year since the last update from Microsoft admin on this, when are we going to get any further update. This is something that I have a number of Project Managers clamoring for and are looking at spending money on 3rd party solutions. I am reluctant to pursue a 3rd party option if Microsoft is going to improve integration of Project Online with Teams.

At the moment, you have Planner, which you can't do things like Gantt charts in, and Project, where you can do everything. But Planner is the only thing you can integrate into Teams.
If you are not going to bring full-fat features to Planner, then you need to let Project (or the "new project management tool" that is supposed to be released this year) integrate into Teams.

Would love to see this proceed forward ASAP.
Hellloooo? Warren? Anyone from MS? What's the status?

We're currently managing a project to migrate from Skype to Teams, in Teams, without the ability to work on Microsoft Project files via Teams. Own Goal!
I know MS Project is a different beast on many levels - but it is time the thing was completely integrated into Office and Teams

Teams and Projects are like peas and carrots... how is it possible that MS Project and Teams are not integrated???

At a minimum allow us to open all MS files from teams. For larger initiatives, planner is just not rich enough in functionality and MPP is used.
Second stage would be great if we can show GANTT charts or timelines in teams as well.
Even if you can't integrate Teams with MS Project, at least allow Teams to open the mpp files in MS Project. I can't believe a Microsoft product can't open a Microsoft file. You can click "open in SharePoint" and it works just fine from the browser. Definitely deters people from using Teams.

I'd just like to see the Shared documents automatically link to a Files tab and that project online sites are automatically teams enabled like they are for Sharepoint.

It would be super helpful if an MPP file (MS Project 2013) could be available in preview in MS Teams. Being able to checkout the document, make changes in the desktop app, and then saving it back would be awesome.
Right now I have to download the file to my computer, make the changes locally, and then upload the file to MS Teams. I may forget to save my changes back to the Teams site and having the integration work like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for example would be very helpful.
Thank you for your consideration.

MS Project needs to be integrated with Teams. That's what teams are doing...working on projects.

This has been on the table for quite some time. "Nate Ellis shared this idea in November 4th 2016".
We really want to use Teams as our main hub for all IT-related activities. I'm amazed that MS project standard and professional aren't already available as a tab in Teams! Only Planner is available but it's not sufficient for our needs. At least a light version of MS Project, with basic functionality, should be available. Why is this taking so long? You must have been reviewing this since day one after launching Teams.
Until you have something in place, please publish a step-by-step instruction on a temporary solution so project members at least gets a clear overview of the activities and gannt chart.
If you are serious about Teams I suggest you prioritize this.
