See all channels inside a teams in the left panel under the Team's Name
Currently we have Teams defaulted to show you the first (up to five) channels ever created. If you want to add more channels to your left rail view, just click the ellipses next to the channel name and select “Favorite”. When you favorite the channel, it will then be “pinned” to your left rail under that team name.
Try that and let me know if that meets your needs!
I want the option to Collapse them or not collapse them personally I have 6 and I wan to see them all - the auto collapse is annoying to me.
This favorite feature is utterly useless when you are in a company where the channels can change weekly or sometime daily. I just want to see all the channels on the pan and be able to scroll down as needed. If you have certain few you use all the time you can favorite them to be on top of the list just like I do on Microsoft Outlook.

2,5 years in and the sidebar is still as unusable as it always was. This is really sad.
It doesn't realy make sense to show the first created channels.
I think it would be better to give the people the possibility to expand the channel list and show the channels first with the latest activity in.

Can we have the option to see a pane that is *just * Favorited channels? they could be prefixed with the team, but I'm part of 5 teams, I care about 2 channels in each and between the unbolded text and the big icons I feel even my Favorited channels are lost in the noise, I *like* the ability to view channels in a team structure, but *most* of the time I want to just see a flat list of conversations i'm following.

It doesn't really make sense to only show 5. That is an arbitrary value that should be controllable by the end user.
I find it surprising that a team as large as Microsoft made a design decision to use a static value for this.
Checking favorite doesn't seem to work for every channel, not sure what determines which ones do and don't work, seems random.
Bad UX choice in the first place
This is incredibly annoying, please allow more settings to select which teams / channels are displayed and in which order.
ditto, make this and all other settings (like showing link previews) user controllable.
Wish my company had let us use slack, so much more controllable.
Just show all the channels by default and don't limit the number of favorites.
I see this continues to be dumb into 2019.
I have 2 teams, one with 5 channels and one with 2 channels. For both teams, instead of showing all channels, one of the channels is always hidden, instead there is the "1 more channel" link, which takes up the same space as the one "missing" channel would! I have more than enough free vertical space in the teams window, so this behaviour is irrational and infuriating. Simply bad UX.

The 'favorite' workaround doesn't work for Teams with only one channel. I have several teams with just a 'General' channel, which I can't favorite. The teams all show up in collapsed view in the list.
when is this getting fixed?
This is still not adressed, wish the dev team could actually reply and say this will be taken care of soon.
Currently Teams has a lot of idiotic "defaults." Abusing the favorites function isn't a solution, it's a workaround to a dumb, easily remedied design decision.
This is not an appropriate solution, it's an annoying workaround to a problem that shouldn't exist.
User interface 101 here Microsoft - if there's a list of items and some whitespace, expand the list to fill the space.
Please only collapse the list if there is not enough whitespace.
How difficult can this be ?
Seriously.. you have a full pane and yet don't display the channels. whats the point..

Just been "committed" to Teams by me employer. This issue the only gripe I have currently (only 2 weeks of occasional use) - went looking for the setting that controlled how many channels are shown - duhhhhh.
Showing all channels should be the default and hiding those not required can't be a hard programming task.
Sad thing seems to be that despite this being a topic here going back to 2016 that no-one seems to be listening...........

Such awful UX! Either give us an option to disable it(show all channels when team is expanded) or remove it!
