Nested Teams and subchannels
Could it be possible to create teams within teams. For example, we have a Development Team at our company which consists of two sub-teams, tech support team and project team.
I’d love to be able to have a “home” top-level channel for my project team, and then have sub-channels for each project that we are working on.

This request has been reviewed and declined by the feature team.

I don't know how MSFT expects us to "eliminate" email via teams collab, and then force a single hierarchy, but want to keep history for searching purposes. The team channel list will become insanely long, or just get deleted.

I would also like to be able to have a “home” top-level channel for my project team, and then have sub-channels for each project that we are working on.

This is a big need for us - Were using Team to start conversations and collaborate on specific deliverables within a project. Not only that, the team have specific needs to collaborate with different project members based on the deliverables, so sub-channels would help us be very organized.

This declination absolutely needs to be rethought:
We are using Teams in a school environment...
- 1 Team = 1 class with about 8-15 teachers (added as owners) and 15-29 students (added as members)
- every teacher creates 1 channel for his subject
There is no need for every teacher to see my channel, my files and ongoing discussions.
There should/must be a way to exclude members or owners from specific channels, even if they are members of the team...
Furthermore, especially for education purposes, their should be a possibilty to create a "teachers-only" channel, which in our case would simply be an "owners-only" channel. -

A bit of a concern to me that there is no response to any of the posts since the original declination.

Hi @Warren - can you provide some reasons why Sub-Channels or Sub-Teams was denied as a feature enhancement? As others have called out, it would be good to understand the Product Teams position on this request and if workarounds are available.

Voiced as a needed improvement to be a more versatile and functional tool, the request for re-consideration seems reasonable, since you have a huge reach out for explanation of the decline at least including offering alternative resources here.

Please reconsider. Not sure why this would have been declined, it seems like a really useful feature that many people want.

sub channels or nested teams are needed. Please reconsider. Think about the IT Team... most are going to consist of a Network Team, Web Team, Help Desk, Infrastructure Team, ERP Team. Those teams need channels as well. example: Web Team might have Design, Current Issues, Requests, and other channels to help folks find stuff quicker. These are all very common.

+1k for Tree Structure! Or at least nested channels... We have a huge need for this, and I imagine others do too.
The same team tends to work on projects for multiple clients (often with clients having multiple projects). Creating a new team for each client or project isn't logical, as it would always essentially include the same people.
Please -strongly- reconsider.

At the very least, I want an ability to group my teams together into categories. It's not super necessary for the parent level to have all of the bells and whistles but just a way for some housekeeping that keeps everything more "eye-friendly". We have 192 teams. And the teams are really grouped into 4 different categories of projects.

sub-channels would be great, for now I just use folders with subfolders as a work around.

+1 for sub-channels. We have a huge demand for this.
Beeing part in hunderts of subteams (each with different rights and guests) is not controllable without a tree structure or similiar.
